      Lucid Dream? Lucid Nightmare?

I have never had a lucid dream before, but I think last night I did, and I met a friend who passed away.. I will give you a little of the dream so it will make sense, I just want to know if its normal for this to happen and if you really can meet those who have passed. .

Okay, I was at my bosses house, and I worked there for some reason and I was walking out to my car, and 3 teenage kids were sleeping in it. And I said like uhh get out and stuff. They asked me to drive them to the college and I said okay and took them. I got out at the college too, And as soon as I get out of my car I see somebody who looks like my friend who passed. And I thought to myself "No way. no way, he's dead" and he kinda stomped his foot at me like "I am right here why arent you coming to me?" and it was so real. I have never had a dream that felt so real. And I said "You are dead" and he just said "Not tonight" and I ran and hugged him. And cried in my dream (this morning I woke up with puffy eyes so I am guessing I cried while I was dreaming as well)

Another reason why I am wondering if it is a lucid dream is because I was walking in a dark ally, and a gang of kids were killing a kid for drugs. And I remember thinking this is just a dream, just a dream wake up and it can stop. And I couldnt wake up.

I am so curious about all that happened in my dream world last night any comments will help.

If you know you are dreaming you are lucid dreaming. But there are degrees, too. Were you sure you were dreaming or thought you might be, but when you couldnt wake up decided it was a dream? I have had close ones like that. And many of these are about as vivid as a lucid dream (I call them vivids). But if you know its a dream it is a lucid. Some of these you are fully alert like real life, and others you are lucid but still very dreamy and not in full control of your faculties. Regardless, congrats! You were basically there or almost there regardless.

Yeah it sounds like a lucid dream to me. Also lucids allow you to look around and really focus on your surroundings, sometimes it's so real you begin to question if you're really asleep.

I don’t think that it was a lucid dream because you don’t realized that you were dreaming.

Hmm i think that was a lucid. Looks like you got lucid in the alley scene, because you realized you were dreaming. i don't think you were lucid when you saw your deceased friend though, since you didnt have that realization, and you just carried on with the dream.

      Congrats on the lucid! :3

Also, what you said about seeing or talking to people who passed, etc. It's an ongoing discussion, and I'm pretty sure it will stay that way for a while. Bt who knows? Anything's possible right? Drop by the Beyond Dreaming section some time, you might find it interesting

      Cheers!

Maybe it's a dream and if I scream, it will burst at the seams.

It sounds like a vivid dream but not a lucid one. A lucid dream is an experience that will enlighten you to your core. It is quite an uplifting and spiritual experience. A lucid dream feels as real as I feel typing this to you now. If you find yourself questioning whether a dream was actually lucid or not then it probably was not.

Sometimes you can know it is a dream, but not really fully realize what that means. It sounds like you were just on the edge of being lucid. You were telling yourself it was a dream, but not really taking the time to process the meaning. You knew it was a dream, told yourself you could wake up, it was a lucid dream. It was just a low level lucid dream. Try to recreate that feeling next time you dream. See if you can become totally aware.

I would say it was a vivid dream, but not a lucid dream personally.
