Video game menus making me lose lucidity

Sometimes I have this problem where, during a lucid dream, menus will show up in my field of vision and make me forget I have limitless options during any situation.

For example, this morning I had a lucid dream where I was being tracked down by a skeleton. When it finally arrived, a sort of weapon select screen came up. I was allowed to pick between about 20 weapons. This made me lose my lucidity by forgetting that I could do whatever I wanted in that situation, and everything felt more like a video game than a dream.

In another lucid dream, I was trying to summon certain objects, and all of a sudden i get the Scribblenauts menu, where you have to type in an object name to summon it. Again I forgot that the menu wasn't necessary, and lost my lucidity while trying to figure out how to type in the name of an object.

I think there are two possibilities to this:

The first one is that you might not be re-strengthening your memory once you become lucid. Since memory is impaired in dreams, everyone should take a moment to remember IRL-things in the dream to make their lucidity stronger.

The other possibility is that you are too used to losing awareness when playing games. In other words.. If you lose awareness when you play games your brain may shift into low-awareness when a game or an element of one shows up.

Though with that said, i'm speculating. Someone out there probably has a better explanation.

That sounds about right. What's began to notice is that whenever I began to feel my awareness increase, whether by looking in a mirror, or just realizing the absurdity of the situation, there is usually a dream character who shows up and gets me back involved in the dream.

And this brings to my awareness a point of why this happens (at least, to me, and at most, to the majority): in waking life, people lose there awareness during certain situation indefinitely. Of course some situation is easier than others. For example, playing video game is almost always akin to being singularly focused on the game (but it doesn't have to be if you consciously make an effort to be mindful)
For me, I seem to go to autopilot mode when I speak with people in real life, so it's hella easy for my subconscious to use that as a backdoor for keeping my awareness low.
Now why the subconscious does that, that's a whole other topic (that I won't be able to answer yet, since I don't know). But solution would be to just work on awareness when you're doing those activities (I.e playing video games IRL) eventually it'll cross over. It wouldn't hurt to work with ADA/mindfulness in general too, actually

Hahaha you are dreaming Sword Art Online . Be careful and always check your logout button .
Now seriously, looks like you are really into games since you see it this often. Any unexpected events in dreams create the chance to lose lucidity. Just try to make it your dream sign.
