How to get dreams from the beginning?

I need help on how to have a dream as soon as I fall asleep or even later on in the night because, a lot of the time its just blank while I sleep and the next morning I dont remember a thing of the dream I might have had.

Like last night for example, I was trying to lucid dream and the whole night nothing happened. Then when I woke up I started remembering this WHOLE vivid lucid dream in my head.. but what I want is to actually go from sleep straight into the dream..

      any help?

Thats impossible, you only dream in your REM(Rapid Eye Movement) Periodes which only start about 3-6 hours after going to sleep, but you could wake yourself up after this time, then you would be able to get directly into your dreams

Dream journal will definitely help you. If you dont have any dreams in the morning, try to wake up at night, and experiment with time, when you wake up. Dream recall is a skill, which needs practice and dedication to be good at. If you dont stop trying to recall, you will be rewarded with rich dream memories, believe me.

yeah but when i wake up at night i cant go back to sleep.... trust me i tried!
seems that when ever i move i wake up... for example.. i stay up late at night watching tv lying down, i get groggy, my eyes get heavy and could easily fall to sleep... i simply move my arm up and down once and my eyes aren't so heavy anymore and im awake for another half an hour. so i ain't gonna get much sleep if i keep a dream journal..

Read this, and some of the other WILD tutorials. It takes practice, but is worth it.

      sharingan09,

I'm not sure exactly what you are asking.

If you are wanting to enter a dream at the moment you fall asleep, perhaps you should attempt maintaining consciousness as you fall asleep. You will experience hypnogogic imagery, and possibly some sleep paralysis if you are successful in this.

If you are wanting to remember full dreams, when you wake, try laying still and keep your eyes closed. You should be able to remember what you were just dreaming. You can then follow/unravel your dream backwards to the beginning.

I have seen many recommendations to set an alarm to wake you during the night to assist with dream recall. I believe this works well for some, but not for others, so if you have trouble falling back asleep, I would not suggest this technique for you.

Each night we have several stages of sleep that we go through multiple times, and each time the different stages last different lengths of time, with REM periods increasing in length throughout the night. Scientists say that the first REM period begins around 90 minutes after falling asleep, but my personal experience is that I start dreaming immediately, so I believe this is different for different people.

Lastly, because the average person forgets up to 95% of any given night's dreaming, perhaps you are asking too much of yourself to remember your dreams from early in the night.

I've been trying the dream journal for 3 nights now and last night was my 3rd night, I had one of the most vivid dreams I've ever had, but I'm not sure if I went lucid or not..

I will be sure to try what all of you suggested and thanks.

If you knew you were dreaming, you were lucid. If you didn't know, you weren't. Control has no bearing on it.

I thought the whole point of lucidity is to control your dreams and do whatever you want, not like just watching a movie in a normal dream..

As long as your consciously aware that you're dreaming, then you're Lucid. You can be Lucid with full control, or you can be Lucid and just go along with the dream. To be consciously aware of the dream state = A Lucid Dream.

There are many different ways to maintain a LD. You can try spinning in the dream, rubbing your hands together and/or, my personal favorite, talking to yourself in the dream, e.g. "Im dreaming", "its only a dream", etc. This link covers more on maintain LDs: http://www.dreamviews.com/community/...ad.php?t=62802

Remember, you will never have a night when you dont dream, but you will have many nights when you just dont remember them. Like mentioned above, its all about you're dream recall (which can be improved through practice and consistency). Keeping a DJ and working on recalling your dreams immediately after you wake up are the best ways to improve your dream recollection.

You can use an alarm to wake you up after 5-6 hours of sleep for a few days just to get your body used to waking up after 5-6 hours of sleep. After this, you will be waking up on your own accord after 5-6 hours of sleep (right smack in the middle of the REM stage) w/o the assistance of an alarm and you will be ready to do a WILD!

Sometimes if you can't remember your dreams it helps to go to bed earlier. If you have trouble sleeping try staying still or doing more exercise or so on to tired yourself out.

That's absolute bullshit, and also a very outdated rumor. It used to be that scientists thought dreaming only occured in REM. Mainly because the REM state was the only proof they could come up with that dreaming was actually taking place. Techniques such as WILDing blow that myth out of the water.

There is no such thing as a blank dream. You should practice WILDing and learning to reach the hypnagogic stage.

You don't have to be in a REM Cycle to dream. It's just that your dreams are less vivid if it's not during REM, if you do have any.

That's true, hypnogogic imagery goes for large parts of the night, but it's just pictures or swirling lights. I highly doubt that you could become lucid at that time, it's not dreaming in the term that most people think of dreaming. Too much of your brain is resting at that time to be lucid.

i cant even remember my dreams let alone try to be consious in one.. and when i wake up it feels like i never slep at all... i cant fall asleep till like 3 in the morning and i wake up at 10 in the morning.. im exhausted, bored as hell.. and this lask of sleep is getting me edgey... sometimes i wonder if going back to school would be a good thing... atleast i get a good sleep pattern going..

i tried sitting still long enough to fall asleep, but my beds too uncomfortable, and if i do manage to lay still long enough to just fall asleep, i wind up moving an arm and i wake up.. its weird.. the slightest movement wakes me up.. it pisses me off in the morning cus i try to go back to sleep and wind up tossing and turning, my heart gets pumping then im awake for good

A cheap method would be trying to sleep on the floor for a few days, but you should at least have a blanket or a sleeping bag between you and the floor. I'm pretty sure you will sleep better in your bed after that.

The expensive one is buying a new bed
