Thread: Dream Food?

I love those!... well, I love anything that's chocolate covered. But who doesn't?

And that gets me wondering about the "dream cookbook" topic. If we all made the same thing out of some nonsensical ingredients (rock souffle?), since we'd never tasted it before, would it taste the same for everyone?

One of my DCs fancies himself a cook, and is always making me dream food. A few times he has tried to teach me to make stuff, but I'm pretty hopeless...once I set the kitchen on fire. I asked him for help, but he said "Nah, I'd much rather watch you fail at this." He doesn't think I can cook dream food, apparently.

I only had food in my dream that made me sick. When I was a vegetarian I had a dream I bit into a donut and it was really made out of turkey neck! Ughhh!

Last night in a non lucid, I had a really good milkshake.

In one non-LD i had the most amazing dinner, it was pasta and scrambled eggs.

I decided it might be good to try this in real life, remembering how good it was in my dream. needless to say it was pretty nasty. The textures just did not fit together right...haha

Ugh... did it have marinara sauce on it??? I mean, people put ketchup on eggs, so I guess it'd be the same... but I still think it's disgusting...

nope just plain pasta and eggs..with parmassan cheese and pepper. It just wasn't nearly as good as in the dream haha

I tasted awesome deliciousness last night. There was this sweet, crispy purple thing which I've never had or seen before, but it was sweet, warm, crispy on the outside, soft and juicy on the inside. Good stuff.

I tryed a chocolate milkshake last night and it was plain and horrible. I was very dissapointed

No, he's not my cook exactly, he just hangs around in my dreams a lot and he happens to like cooking. In a few dreams I've seen him as a food critic or judging cooking contests, lol.


The ironic thing is that I have almost no interest in food IRL, and zero talent in cooking. But because of this DC, my new hobby is watching other people cook, lol!

I am going to start eating the most random things in dreams, just for the hell of it.

Once in a dream a man offered me some ice cream, so I took it. I was about to lick it, but it suddenly melted into the cone. I didn't eat it after that. And I don't think I've ever tasted food in a dream! Well, just one more goal to add to my list.

You definitely should. I vaguely remember some of my NL food experiences, and anything you can percieve as tasty will taste godly in your dreams.

In a lucid this morning I summoned cake! It was good.

I forgot about a dream where i had a sunday thing with cheesecake, apple and caramel. it was good even though it doesn't sound like it. The apple wasn't chunks, more like apple juice and some cinnamon.

The other night I had a dream where I was having some kind of asparagus, and some unidentifiable soup. I remember they tasted very good but I don't remember what they tasted like.

Anyone else get dream food they've never eaten before?

That would be me. See my DJ, the one with the supermarket, etc. It was this freaky purple fig thing. I've never even had a fig before...

We need to get you to Italy boy! Figs are my favorite fruit of all time! Hard to peel them, and the inside looks disgusting, but they're excellent!

I actually ordered a fig tree from a nursery just so I could taste them someday...we'll see if it survives the winter.

For lucids, I agree with this statement

I've thought that it may have something to do with the fact that I'm very sensitive to taste in waking life. Though how, I can't quite explain.

Strangely, I can't recall ever eating in normal dreams...

Not exactly, but close to it.

It's been at least a decade since I've eaten asparagus...so I'm pretty sure I've forgotten what it tastes like. But I've heard numerous times that it makes your pee smell funny...

And---odd as it may sound---I'm reading a book that had the quote: "But first he enjoyed the immediate pleasure of smelling a secret garden in his urine that had been purified by lukewarm asparagus."

So in a recent non-lucid dream I remember trying some steamed asparagus offered to me by an ex. And thanks to the quote, which stuck in my head ["well then, that has to be a new one."], all I tasted was what can only be comparable to incense (sandalwood and sage) and lilac.

...which I'm sure is completely off-base. But I guess the power of the subconscious prevails, at least in this case.

Depending on where you live, it could flourish or die a slow, agonizing death as the water inside it crystallizes.

I'm in Jersey, which is a 6 on the USDA Hardiness Zones scale. If my memory serves me, fig trees thrive in 7-9 Zones. My straight-up Italian neighbor actually has a fig tree; he keeps a tarp over it in the winter, with a heater inside.
