Had this dream a few nights ago, and I keep going back to it in my head because of how fucked up it was. I wouldn't say it's bothering me, but I'm struggling to interpret it and wondered if maybe I'd get some better suggestions from an objective source.
The full dream journal entry is here, and isn't very long, but I'll summarise for those that can't be bothered to read it.
I meet a girl while in the queue for a club and get to know her quite well. IRL I have a girlfriend, but this dream character wasn't her or anyone I know, which is odd because almost all my dreams contain only people I've met. Various things happen at the club which I won't go into as I don't think they have any connection to what I want to interpret.
Now here's where it gets interesting.
As we leave the club together, my arm round her shoulder, we come across her mum and baby brother and, taking this is normal, we all walk home together.
While walking down a road we see a colossus at the other end (a giant, mythological creature featured in Age of Mythology, which I'd been playing at the time). I realise is not good and launch myself over a low wall into a park to our left, urging the girl and her mum to do the same.
We all sprint as fast as we can across the field and the colossus shoots a beam of energy at some nearby cars, blowing them up. The others run ahead of me (I'm too slow to keep up) and get hit by a second beam from the colossus.
I approach the mum first, as she's nearest, and she's clutching a horribly disfigured foot, telling me it's fine and to check on her daughter. I run to her and a friend she's lying next to (who's taken the place of her little brother) as they both scream in pain after regaining consciousness. They're both bleeding profusely from multiple wounds, and are completely disfigured. The girl I met has skin melted over her eye, as well as a huge growth on her stomach, and screams when she takes a look at herself.
The rest of the dream involves me running from the colossus (which is now a bus for some reason) as it destroys everything in its path, and gaining sanctuary in an old mansion in the park.
It's the penultimate part (second last paragraph) that really disturbed me. It was so vivid that I could feel all the emotions of losing someone in such a gruesome way so strongly, as opposed to it being like watching the same event in a film. I can still remember it really clearly, including everything I was thinking.
Dreams are a lot easier to interpret when you know the people involved, but this was a person created from my own imagination, so I just can't figure out what (if anything) it means.
Any suggestions?
