So me and my girl-friend (I don't mean girlfriend. It's possible we were in a relationship, but there was no indication of that in the dream), are in this medium sized old town. In the town there is this old inn that we are standing in front of. She has some of her friends with her. It is either abandoned or for sale. The style of the inn is Victorian. It looks like a semi-mansion. It's not like a huge 5-10 million dollar place, but probably more like 500k - 1 million. It is in disrepair. The inn gives a kind of lower class sleazy vibe. It's not currently open, so my indication of that is that there is a neon sign in the front window that says "TV, Videos, WEED" and has a light up picture of a weed leaf on it. You know how a lot of old inns will advertise their amenities, well that's what it is. It looks kind of like it hasn't been open in years. I think it's most likely that the place was for sale and the girl had interest in it.

We check the front door and it's open, so we all walk inside. The power is still on, but nobody is in there. I don't remember the details about what the first floor looked like, but there was nothing really strange about it (your average old inn). It has four floors, not counting the basement or attic. We begin walking up the stairs to the second floor. Up there I notice that most of the walls have been ripped out. There's like one or two small rooms, but the rest is wide open. There is no plaster on the walls. The internal wood is exposed and looks all gray and old. The stairs in the building are on opposite sides of each floor, so you have to walk across to the other side to find more stairs. Once we get up to the third or fourth floor, I notice a swaying sensation as we walk. Then I look out the window and realize the building is actually moving as we walk across. I freak out and tell the friends to stop all walking together cause they are making it sway more. They kind of listen at first, but they are a little bit careless.

We manage to make it to the top floor and nothing happens thankfully. I see against one of the walls of the top floor is a set of broken stairs going up to what I suspect is the attic. It's a very rudimentary set of stairs compared to the more extravagant stairs on the other floors. The girl turns on her phone light and looks through the rectangular hole in the ceiling where the stairs should lead to. At first she's like nothing much to see there, but then she makes a weird face and says come here and look. I look up there and I see the wood wall going up and then what looks like the wood roof extending up a bit. I climb up the stubs of the staircase to try to see better. The wood roof only sticks out a few feet and then the ceiling of the attic actually extends up hundreds of feet. I see huge metal I beams going across the top. It almost looks like there is a big building in there. Like not quite as large as a skyscraper, but big. Part of the roof is either glass or skylights and some light is coming through. Under the lighted area, it looks like there might be a tree growing. There appears to be some other foliage in there also. My head is just barely above the floor and I get this fear. I have altocelarophobia in real life (the fear of large enclosed spaces). The phobia is like a weird combination of liking it, but being afraid at the same time. So I don't look any further or go up there. The stairs made it impossible without a ladder anyway. It seemed almost like a small slice of a city up there. Given the physical impossibility of this, I get creeped out and say we need to leave. Everyone agrees.

(It looked kind of like the inside of this power plant, but with stuff growing inside: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oz5BamDwRDg It was dark at first, but then got light when I looked. I like looking at abandoned buildings in real life btw.)

At some point we explored the basement, but I don't remember when. It looked like a large old warehouse, except the ceiling was a lot shorter. There were shelves built out of wooden pallets, but otherwise it was completely empty aside from the furnace which was one of those really old coal types that looked pretty creepy, but otherwise the basement was not as scary as I thought.

Back to the story, so we are on the top floor and everyone decides this is weird as F*** and we have to leave. Despite the strangeness, the girl seems to somehow be attached to the building. Like she still kind of wants to own it even though it's got something that doesn't even follow the laws of physics in it. I think it's really cool, but I'm pretty scared. As we walk down stairs, her stupid friends start walking together again even though I keep telling them not to. The building starts swaying more and more because we have to walk from one side to the other to hit the stairs. Eventually I start thinking to myself, how much can this actually sway before it breaks cause it almost seems like it's a spring at this point. Then it happens. The entire top half of the building breaks off and lands on the front lawn. We are all kind of disorientated and scared, but we are actually all good. Maybe a few small scratches, but everybody just kind of stands up and we start walking out of there. I say, "Shit, this place was so beautiful I wish that didn't happen. That sucks." or something like that (I know that sounds superficial when I write it, but I was actually deeply hurt by it in the dream.) The girl's like, "No it's fine we just need to rebuild it. It'll be good." I could tell that she was somehow attached to it also and was either lying to herself or she genuinely thought it could be done. I think it was the latter cause I could sense like she simply was not going to accept it and was going to fix it anyway. I kind of liked her because of that.

At this point there is a small dog walking with us. No idea where it came from, but it appears to be the girl's dog. As we walk away, we walk through the backyard for some reason and the neighbors pit bull is not being very friendly - barking a lot and acting like it wanted to bite, but it was behind a fence so we weren't too scared. It still managed to stick it's nose through a broken part of the fence and nipped the little dog, but she turned out to be OK.

The end.
