My dream recall improvement is failing :/

Okay so, I've been telling my self before I go to bed
      "I WILL remember my dreams"
But for the past 5-6 days, my dream journal literally contains
      "I don't remember my dream"

I am writing down the ones I remember but I can't seem to remember ANYTHING :/
      I don't know what I'm doing wrong.

And I have now got a regular sleeping pattern, so I'm not quite sure what to do

      Hi,

I am very new to this and in a week have gone from next to no dream recall to up to 3 a night. I think the mantra
"I always wake and remember my dreams" has really worked for me.
I've found also that I've actually been waking in the night several times right after these dreams.
Maybe set an alarm though the night, aiming to do it after the appropriate periods of time to match your sleep cycles.
For me , in my limited experience, waking in the night has meant I have the opportunity to remember and recall multiple dreams which I am sure over time has a compounding effect on recall over all.

      Good luck

I'll try the alarm and that mantra. What time should I set the alarm for?

You'll find people more knowledgable than me who might be able to say but it is different for everyone which is why it's worth trying slight different time periods. I think anywhere between 4-6 hrs after hitting the hay is the sweet spot (or a sweet spot). Maybe try a few and see if you can catch yourself after a dream period. Hopefully some others can confirm here. Good luck

You'll have to experiment with the timing on your alarm since it's different for everyone. After about 4 hours you should be having a chance of waking up from a dream, thus remembering it more easy. After 8 hours of sleep I rarely wake up without remembering a nice, long dream.

Okay! I woke up at like 4:30AM (Before my alarm; my alarm was set at 5AM) and I went to sleep like, I think I fell asleep around 12:40~
I didn't remember my dream at the time (I don't think so atleast) and I woke up at like 8AM, went back to bed, had another dream that I remebered! (That happens a lot in the morning with me) They were really weird dreams I don't remember much of the second one but atleast it's a good start!
I am still yet to achieve a lucid dream though..

EDIT: Forgot to mention I told myself I would wake up after my dream, and I did :p

      1. Change "I will" to "I am" or "I have" - present tense
      2. Don't write anything negative. Instead, write "My memory is great and recall getting better every day". Write down anything and everything you remember. Even if it's just a feeling, that you had a dream. Write "I had a dream and tomorrow I remember even more". Write down, even if all you remember is, that it was a short one, if you remember some color, or feeling, or just "it was something about a house..."
      3. Write "I love my dreams, thank you for my dreams". Also, tell that to your mind, as you falling asleep. Good luck

Also general memory practice can help with recall, try recalling everything that happened through the day before going to sleep. This thread has also some more tips on recall: http://www.dreamviews.com/dream-sign...ompendium.html
