      MILD-1 Syllabus

      MILD-1 Syllabus

      Professor: PercyLucid

      Dates: August 4 - Aug 25 | GMT*: -7

1st Class: August 4, Starts at 6 PM

2nd Class: August 11, Starts at 6 PM

3rd Class: August 18, Starts at 6 PM

4th Class: August 25, Starts at 6 PM

      About the Classes

Generally, all the classes will be lecture based. There will be plenty of material to cover, so I recommend to keep conversations brief and on topic. If during the lecture you have questions, use the command “/me ***QUESTION***” only once. I will answer you question as soon as I am done with the sentence. I will ask some questions during the lecture. Students will answer to the questions in order. This way the class will be well organized.

Class Thread (You Are Here): Any questions, concerns and comments about the course should go here.

Introductions/Chat Thread: This is the thread to introduce yourselves, talk among each other and have any non-dream related discussion.

Student Workbooks: You will create your own workbook thread in the STUDENT WORKBOOKS subforum. You will be posting your MILD attempts and all your assignments in there. Students are encouraged to comment in each other's workbooks

Important: Please put the course # in the title of your workbook. Since more than one class is going on, it'll be easier to know who your classmates are this way. Thanks!

      Lectures

      1st Class

      Basic Introductions
      - What is MILD.
      - Differences between MILD and DILD
      - Examples.

      Getting started
      - Importance of a Dream Journal.
      - Importance of a positive focus before going to bed.
      - Do(s) and Don't(s) before going to bed.

Assignment:: Each student must start a mandatory dream journal and post in it for the duration of the course. Even if no dreams are recalled, feelings should be recorded. The professor will track the student and provide advice / answer questions.

      2nd Class

      Incubation of dreams
      - Learn how to incubate dreams.
      - How to stay focused until the very last second before falling asleep.
      - Learn how to block your mind from wandering away.
      - Daydreaming.

      Waking hours MILD
      - Importance of positivism in this area.
      - Learn how to celebrate and enjoy archiving a MILD before actually accomplishing it.
      - Learn how to find a goal suitable for your experience.

Assignment: Students will keep updated their dream journal. A lucid task for the week will be posted during classes. (Very basic task) Student will focus on the task and anything else (no personal goals, no ToTM, anything but the task assigned until it's completed and posted. Students will also write down on their workbook their dream incubation (thoughts during waking and before sleep, excitement of truly believing the tasks is completed before actually completing it, etc) After the task of the week is completed, the student will post a second goal based on his or her level of knowledge in the area.

      FINAL EXAM

      Grading

The grading will work around your assistance and work. I want to point out that your recalled dreams won't be graded (except for the lucid task of the week) so do not worry about that.

A score from 0 to 110 points will be given.

      - Assistance: 5 points per class (4 classes = 20 points for flawless assistance)

      - Participation: Being active in class, asking questions, answering to my questions, etc 5 points per class.

      - Assignments: Completion of assignments. Each assignment will be rated individually. Each assignment will be rated from 0 to 30. An average grading for all four assignments will be created.

      - Final test: It will be graded from 0 to 30.

      - Extra credit: 10 points. Starting at the third week, if you complete any task of the Month or the Year, you will be awarded the extra credit. Its a very good source to MILD.

If you have any questions. Feel free to post here.

I will try to keep the classes about an hour. If guidelines from the syllabus are followed, they won't last longer.

Awright!! This shoudl be pretty educational. Just wondering, do we need to make an official dream journal in the appropriate section or can we just write our dream sin the workbook?

Okay just to clairify this is what you want.

(example) "/dakotahnok ***is this what you mean?***"

I think PercyLucid is referring to the IRC-specific /me command, which results in a "Dakotahnok does blahblah" type of sentence. /me laughs would result in Frishert laughs.
