Night before first class, went to sleep repeating "Tonight a DC will ask if I am dreaming and I will RC and realise I am"
Woke twice during the night in a state of frustration and slight confusion - both times was dreaming about being with/in a group of DC's but they all were confused and didn't know what to say.
Obviously this is my own intrepidation about what to expect ....

The mantra is good, but it needs some improvement! We will go through that on the next class!

Do not feel frustrated, ever! Just keep focusing you will succeed and you will definitely!

About that dream, is probably a sign of your subconscious trying to settle down and "digest" all the new information. You dream habit will be impacted on this course, and some people manifest that with a subconscious "not sure about what to dream" and you can see dream "malfunctioning" which can result in confused DC... the dream freezing or the dream going super, extremely fast (happened to my wife this last one)

Keep me posted about your daily focus, please!

Thanks Percy - Last night used same mantra (will refine after next class obviously) but was exhausted from huge day at work so DR wasn't up to usual.
First dream was curiously devoid of DC's and was about me arranging blue bottles of water in two lines in the sand. Although absorded in this strange task I was aware that there were no DC's anywhere around. Deserted beach scene and woke confused again. Rest of nights dreams a bit hazey to recall - there were DCs though.
So just need to digest more and keep focused.

Thinking about Mantra improvement. Mantras need to be specific, focused and unambiguous.

Manta to be repeated as falling asleep is now:

Tonight in my dreams a dream character will ask me if I am dreaming. I will do a reality check and realise that I am dreaming.

That one is too long. You will know the perfect one next Class!

About recall, write down if at least you can recall a feeling or something. Little information is better than none.

Absolutely Percy - way too long - found that out myself last night as I repeated it - focus tended to waft off during. Shalst revise after class.

As for recall - I remember 2-5 dreams each night. I have a written dream journal, just shy about putting my dreams into public arena!

      Concert Task.
      Pre-Sleep:
Visualising being at a concert - the crowd, the music etc. Mind wanders abit remembering bits of all the concerts I've been to over the years as I fall asleep.

      Dream: Non-lucid.
My friends arrive to pick me up to go to the concert in a huge white 1950's Plymouth. The car is immaculate and very impressive. As I walk towards the the car across the gravel driveway to get in I say "Wow Ric (the driver) I feel presidential being picked up in this!" The friends in the back hang out the windows and say to hurry up, get in, we gotta get there.
I get into the back seat and the inside of the car takes on tardis proportions. I'm looking at the back seat as we speed along the road. Back seat is a red and blue velvet bench seat against an 8 foot white brick wall. I think "gee Ric's driving really fast" I consider turning around to see if we are OK on the road, but stop myself because I trust Ric's driving and am consciously trying to be less controlling.

Dream then changes to me in an apartment on the seafront getting ready to goto a concert (possibly just before friends arrive above but dream sequence is after above). I am getting all the things one needs for a concert - I find my lighter in the bottom of a tub of spiral pasta in the fridge. I think "ahh good found my lighter"

      Post Sleep:
Quite happy about dreaming about going to concerts. Realise that dream incubation needs to be held more precisely on scene at concert and becoming lucid. But impressived and excited with potency of incubation effect in general terms.
Disappointing that gigantic scale of car + back seat and incongruity of finding my lighter in a tub of pasta were accepted as reality by my dream consciousness.

Well... dreaming about a concert or related is an awesome result, awesome job!
That means your subconscious is processing it (you might dream about LD related topics as well) Do not stop focusing on this at all! Do not waste your momentum!! You will get it done soon!

      Pre-Sleep:
Poor preparation because very tired from day. Watched Aussie Open Tennis on TV. Held scene of concert as fallinf asleep and also affirmation " I will lucid dream tonight or very soon"

      Sleep:
Poor recall - Non-Lucid - Large trucks coming along our windy mountain road laden with huge boulders. Each rock bigger than a car and stacked 4-5 high on back of truck. I comment to my son "Amazing how those trucks can get past the tree tops carrying those rocks"
Then in house as trucks deliver boulders outside. There is a specialist floor layer called "The Bone Crusher" who is giving us advice on a laquered floor consisting of thousands of small bones. My son and I think it looks cool - my wife thinks otherwise ...

      Post Sleep:
Woke feeling tired, only one dream recall and kinda surprised didn't dream about concert. Reflect on pre-sleep preparation and realise it was poor - TV then non focused incubation. Feeling positive about learning what works and what don't!

That is the best way, to tune up your abilities and visualization. Make sure you incubate during the day too.

      Pre-Sleep:
Been incubating during the day. Chest technique prior to sleep then incubate and mantra.

      Sleep:
Distrurbed sleep - kept waking alot. A few fragmented dreams - main one was another fishing and water dream.

      Post Sleep:
Chest tech and incubation better. Felt confident about possiblity of LD. Dream signs of water and fishing dreams again - still just went along with dreamscape though.
Realise must give up alcohol for awhile to really get clarity and focus to achieve LD

      Pre-Sleep:
Great deep meditation for about 45mins an hour before bed. No TV. Incubation of scene then distilled to one 'frame' with mantra. Felt could hold this for longer as drifting off - but didn't get to sleep for 1.5hours as mind wandered abit designing dream mask I want to make

      Sleep:
3 Dreams remembered (still non-lucid). One with Usual boat on river/ocean dreamsign and as drifted one way down river I looked over to see two wooden brooms surface and drift in the opposite direction to current. As I looked at the brooms I thought "now that's weird they're drifting the other way" Still I didn't click ----> Ddeerrrrr it's a dream, stupid!

      Post Sleep:
Woke 10mins - did WBTB holding incubation 'frame' again - another dream non lucid.
Feelings: positive about depth of meditation and holding incubation better - need to allow to goto sleep with this and not so long. Feel that energy level needs to come up as just 'collapse' so deeply into sleep/dreams that not able to recognise dreamsigns even when comment to self about incongruous brooms!! Understand what Don Juan meant about need to raise personal energy to succeed....

      Pre-Sleep:
Good Meditation again an hour before sleep. No TV.
In bed, incubation of first scene - then distilled to one 'frame' at concert with mantra.
Stressful report to write for work kept me awake composing draft plans for 4 hours - sleep about 2am.

      Sleep:
2 fragment dreams followed by long Concert Dream coupled with river/water dream sign. Non-Lucid.
Summary: I am at the outdoor field concert as in incubation but larger scale, consisting of 5 stages with 100's of thousands of people. The 2 lower stages have been flooded by river (dreamsign) and two large tug boats with cables are needed to stabilize remaining 3 main stages of concert from being swept away. I suggest/realise we need to go "upstairs" to get 3 remaining stages away from the strong current of the river so tug boats can secure concert stages more easily.

      Post-Sleep:
6am work start so very tired. Amazed at dream about concert incubation semi-successful but also realise that my subconscious has used dreamsigns of river/water and incongruity of "going upstairs" in a river in an attempt to make me realise I am dreaming. I still do not realise and attain lucidity. Almost like I am resisting realisation of dreaming despite best attempts by my own subconscious !!??

      Self assessment:
I am achieving concert incubation although not achieving lucidity so sub-conscious bringing in dream signs in attempt to help my consciousness realise dream an LD. I still obviously lack energy/awareness to bring this to the fore and become lucid. Beginning to think I may be trying too hard and draining my energy that is obviously required to become lucid at concert task.

      Pre-Sleep:
No incubation - exhausted from last night lack of sleep. Asleep before head hit pillow.

      Sleep:
Multiple dreams (6 in written journal) - one of note -> Discussing dreams with work colleague and discovered we had the same dream the night before - about feeding coloured balloons to native animals etc. In dream I was amazed that we had the same dream and thought it was cool and great. Still didn't click to LD though.

      Post-Sleep:
Many dreams to record - at least am dreaming about dreams. Incredible that I can actually dream about dreams and shared dreams and still not realise I am dreaming. May have to work on positivity, but also realise need good sleep to have energy to be able to bring awareness into dream.

Dreaming about dreams it is a sign of an approaching lucid dream, specially when getting started. You will LD in no time if you keep the same focus. Good job with meditation, it pays of both mentally and physically!

      Thanks Percy,
Great feedback that dreaming about dreams is a step in the right direction.
I really feel that I am getting close to LD - I can feel the benefits of meditation and especially the avoidance of that idiot box prior to sleep.
Actually in recent months I increasingly feel that the the TV has such a detramental effect on our brains/imagination - like the 'Disposable Heroes of Hiphopisy" lyrics - "Television the Drug of a nation, feeding ignorance and breeding radiation ....

      http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sgOWTM5R2DA

I limit my kids' exposure to TV but have neglected myself. Ironic, but we always do what's best for our kids first hey...

Thanks for your support - much appreciated ...... :-)

Now that you decrease the idiot box time, your kids will appreciate it even more. You guys can have quality family time. Encourage your kids to talk with you about dreams, be a father for their dreamworld as well, you will not even imagine how united they will get to you. Most fathers arrive home late from work when kids are about to go to sleep, hungry jack dinner with football or whatever crap shows up on TV. Not say about dream-focused fathers. They have a blessing, so if you have not done so yet, be a part of their dream life. The kids will be more united for you and they will not loose their dreaming abilities (and they will work on them since kids)

Like I said to someone who I am going to host guided meditations... eventually, I have a very lazy afternoon and I watch the tv A LOT (like 3 hours in a row) and just vegetate. But most of the time, after dinner, my butt "itches" after about 15-20 minutes of TV and I go meditate, read or computer. Also, funny enough, if I watch TV for over 1h, I never recall what I have seen on it... it is like I am watching TV and my consciousness goes away after a while.

Be happy for a 4 dream recall. That is pretty neat. Dream recall increases lucidity

      Pre-Sleep:
Meditated for 30 mins an hour before bed. Light-medium meditation. Still no TV. Incubation abit wayward - concert scene hard to hold as other thoughts came in. Mantra whilst trying to incubate.

      Sleep:
4 non-lucid dreams. Awake after each but so groggy didn't manage to get up - just tried to incubate scene and mantra as returned to sleep.

      Post-Sleep:
Good recall on dreams. Realise that tiredness from weekend making so groggy couldn't WBTB because couldn't get out of bed! This will improve as catch up on sleep.

      Hi Percy,
Good advice re:Kids + dreaming. I have been talking to and encouraging my kids wrt dreaming for about 6 months now.
My daughter (11 yo) definately has ability - she has told me about some false awakenings she'd had, and last week she had an amazing dream about putting a "magic cream" onto her very bad eczema on her legs - 2 days later she said "look Dad its almost gone" and the eczema had reduced to nearly nothing!! I am certainly encouring her + even my son (14yo) is interested too.
      Cheers,
      Jim

OK had a few days off due to stress at work and having a few too many at night .... :-)
      Pre Sleep:
Meditation 20mins - not as deep as last week after break - definately improves with practice.
In Bed - Mantra + "I want to remember I am dreaming" ala LaBerge (Exploring the world of LD.) as reading prior to sleep.

      Sleep:
3 nonlucid dreams - first more of an image/emotion best described as me as a rotating dark ball of emotion really trying to do 'something' but not being able to. Other dreams related to daily residue of work and kids.

      Post Sleep:

First dream of 'frustration ball' indicates to me that me trying hard to LD after week off - need to be more consistant and also not let stress of waking reality distract me from my goal to LD.
