Lesson 4: Applying Dream Control - Summoning

Welcome to lesson four of Dream Control+.

      Summoning
At one point or another, you are going to want to summon in your dream. I will now cover several ways to obtain objects and DCs within your lucid dream.

      Basic Summons
Check your pants - One of the easiest ways to summon an object is to reach in your pants/pockets and feel around for the object. Pockets in dreams are much more versatile than in waking life. You may be able to pull something out that you never thought possible. Just feel around until your fingers bump into the object, grasp it, then pull it out. I have pulled out long swords, guns, and many other things from my pocket in dreams. Every time I perform this technique in a dream, I remember a show I watched as a kid. It actually may have something to do with my success . Here is the video for a little inspiration, lol. Baggin, Saggin Barry . Remember, you just have to reach deep down in your pants! You may even be able to summon a DC this way. Don't take my word for it, just watch Baggin Saggin Barry pull Abe Lincoln from his trousers .

Look around you - Another easy one is to simply search for your object. Look around in our immediate area and see if that sword happens to just be laying around. Remember, the dream doesn't follow the same rules as waking life. That sword you are looking for could be underneath and completely hidden by a coffee mug. Just think of the object you want, and look around for it. It may also help to call out the name of the object.

This one seems to work really well for summoning DCs. I like to walk/run around my environment and call out the name of who I am looking for. Pay close attention to the DCs around you. Often times they begin to look more and more like the person you are looking for. You will know how close you are getting. In your mind, know that the person is there, but they are simply out of view.

Play some Marco Polo - This one works with DCs best, but could also work with objects. Basically, shout out loud, "Ok Kate Beckinsale, we are starting the game now!" Now proceed to play the popular swimming pool game in your dream (popular around here anyway). Shout, "MARCO..." Wait for the person you are looking for to say, "POLO..." Now continue the game until you are able to locate them. Try playing this game with an object. In dreams, nearly everything can communicate telepathically...even weapons/objects.

Use your DCs (dream characters) - If there are any DCs in the immediate area, use some passive control to get the object you desire. Be confident in your approach and really sell your acting job. Try to really put that DC "on the spot" and give them as little of an opening as possible to squirm out of. Take these two statements for example, "Hey, do you have a sword I can use?" and "Hey, hand me that sword you just picked up." With the first statement, the DC can easily say "no" and your mind will accept that this DC simply doesn't have a sword. Whether you know a sword could appear at anytime is irrelevant. In the back of your mind/subconscious, this DC doesn't have a sword. This can make it extremely difficult to find any use of this particular DC. With the second statement, you know the DC has a sword. In fact, he had just picked one up. As long as you really sell the acting job and remain confident in your approach, it will be much easier to use this DC to your advantage. If the DC still refuses to give up the sword, tell him you are lucid and threaten with force. He will give it up, I promise.

That brings up another strategy when dealing with DCs. Don't be afraid to use the idea of lucidity in your favor. If a DC is being stubborn, look them in the eye and say, "Look, you! I am lucid right now, so how about you listen to me before I flex some of this power!" You could also go about it with less aggression. "Dude, I am lucid right now. Hand over that sword and I'll show you some cool shit!" Using lucidity to your advantage can really help you get started in your dream control.

This applies with finding DCs as well. Use other DCs to help you find the particular person you are searching for.

      Special Summons
Instant Summon - I am sure most of you have saw the cliche, "Dragonsword, I summon thee," or something similar. It happens all the time in anime/cartoons/movies. The character calls out the name of his weapon, throws his hand out, and poof....there it is. Well, you are going to do just that. Think of the object you are wanting to summon and give it a name. Even if you just want a simple metal sword, give it a name. Look out in front of you, take a breath, and shout "Jabba! The generic sword!" Now throw your arm out to your side with your hand open. If the sword isn't in your hand already, feel around in the air a bit. You want to touch that cold steel and then grasp tightly around it. The key to this technique is to NOT look at your hand as you are summoning. All you want to do is feel that steel against your hand and then grasp the item. Then you may look and head into battle. Once you are able to feel the item, your mind will be able to process said item much easier. For most, the mind can't easily watch an item appear out of thin air. It just doesn't happen often in waking life and there isn't anyway for your mind to translate that into the dream. On the other side, I am sure everyone has picked up an item before actually looking at it. This easily translates into the dream state. See, dream control is all about "working your angles." Tricking your subconscious mind into doing extraordinary things.

For summoning a DC, try shouting, "Kate Beckinsale, I summon you to be by my side!" Throw out your hand and feel around for another hand.

Transfiguration - The Harry Potter style term, not the religious one . Basically, find any random object in your environment. Now, hold it in your hands and mold this object into the object you seek. Things are easily manipulated by your hands in a dream. Think about how you want the object to look, and mold the features to represent that image. ou don't have to be exact or even be artistic. Your mind adds all the detail and precision, your hands simply create the outline. You can also lay the object down on the ground and mold it without touching it. Simply hold your hands out in front of you (between your vision and the object). You can now craft the object with your hands and never even touch the object during the process. This seems to work better than actually touching the object, for me anyway. Give them both a shot.

This can also be used when summoning people. You can mold a simple twig into a person with some practice. Of course, if you were looking to fornicate, it may be a bit awkward. "Am I really banging a DC or a twig? It was created by my own mind, so maybe I'm really just mind-fucking myself!" Yeah, try not to think too much into sexual acts in a dream. They generally come to slightly disturbing conclusions .

Call to the gods - Hold up your arms and shot to the gods of the dream world. Really try and sell this acting job as if you had sold your soul to them and they will grant your every desire. Shout, "Gods of the dream world (Alex )! Bestow upon me, the sword of Ares," or something similar. The sword will then fall from the sky and land at your feet. Be careful though, Alex is a bit of a prankster. He may try to drop it on your head .

If you are summoning a person this way, you may want to break their fall somehow. Try catching them or just believing that they will land safely. It won't do much good if your summoned individual has turned into sidewalk soup.

Revealing the hidden - This one works best when summoning a DC. Look around your environment and find something you can use. Animals and DCs work great, but large objects can be used as well. Walk up to whatever you have chosen and say, "Ok, the coast is clear. You can take your actual form once again, Kate Beckinsale." Watch as the bear/wrinkly old man/pine tree, transform into the beauty that is Kate Beckinsale (or whoever it is you are summoning ). You can also try a more aggressive approach and grab the person/animal/object and say, "You thought you could hide from me? I see through your pathetic disguise...now show yourself," or something similar.

Mirror summons - This one is very specialized. If you are wanting to hang out with yourself, this perfect. Walk up to a mirror, and talk to your reflection. Hold out your hand/put it into the mirror a bit. Now, attempt to grasp your reflections hand and pull them out of the "mirror world." It may help to talk them through it as well. Tell them you will help them crossover and you can hang out or something. You can also tell your reflection to bring over a particular item or person from the "mirror world." Even if you don't bring your reflection out of the mirror, you can tell it to go get a certain person, like Abe Lincoln. You can then have a chat with Abe Lincoln and see if the hole in his head has healed up any. Mirrors are very. very versatile in the dream world.

      Closing thoughts....
The most important thing to keep in mind is, there are absolutely no limits to dream control. If you even have the slightest feeling that something may work, try it. Experiment in the dream world and try to find what methods really work for you. What I hope to do with this class is not only provide ways to accomplish your goals, but open your mind to the creativity you can use in the dream world. Dream goals are great, but don't be afraid to spend a lucid dream exploring or just messing around with the dream world itself. With dream control, try to think outside the box and just have fun with it. You never know what you may be able to discover and accomplish.

Thanks for the lesson KingYoshi. The other night I successfully made a motorcycle appear, and later turned it into a hover bike.

Sounds like fun! I usually use hammerspace (that place cartoon characters pull objects out of) for money, as my subconscious doesn't like it when I steal. On a related note, have you tried making specific objects or people vanish? I do that much more frequently. If it's small I just close my hands around it until I can't see it, and press down on it gently, willing it to shrink into nothingness, or into another dimension. If it's big, I hug it and look over the top of it so that it's under my line of vision and squeeze it gently, willing it to shrink away like in the previous example. It can be done to objects or DCs, but when it's a DC I imagine they are being sent off to a safe place (hammerspace?).
