      Q&A Session: Log Posted

      I had originally intended to provide instructions for building up a meditation schedule in Meditation Lesson 4: Bringing It All Together. However, taking all factors into account, I have decided instead to do a Question & Answer session using the DreamViews Chat. The session will at around 00:00 GMT (midnight), and it'll go on for as long as necessary until either people have no more questions, or until I have to go to sleep (which would be several hours later), and it'll take place on Wednesday 29th June. The session will be oriented around questions about building up a meditation schedule, but any general meditation questions are welcome after all the questions regarding schedules have been answered.

      If you're unable to make the Q&A session, don't worry, because I'll be available nearly every day in the DreamViews Chat to answer your questions. If you have never used the Chat before, here are instructions on how to connect. Click the button at the top of this page, labelled Chat. It should be beside the "Dream Tube" button in the site navigation bar. Then, enter your username and password for DV, and then you'll be in. If you're coming to the Q&A session, after you join the main Chat, type this into the input box: "/join #DVA". At the top of the Chat window, you should now see two tabs; #DV and #DVA. To switch to the DVA channel, click #DVA. If you have any trouble getting into #DVA, feel free to ask someone in #DV for help.

      [00:08] Dark_Merlin: since i've been meditating i've been getting REALLY vivid and immersive dreams
      [00:08] Dark_Merlin: all my dreams feel like i'm living them
      [00:08] Dark_Merlin: and i wake up after every one of them

      [00:15] DaveyCash: I'd recommend go straight to lesson 2: void meditation, unless you think you need to brush up on the meditation basics

      [00:16] DaveyCash: Dark_Merlin, do you find it hard to actually clear your mind in void meditation?

      [00:16] Dark_Merlin: i always have something going on
      [00:17] Dark_Merlin: i can replace it with my mantra or whatever my focus is in focal med

      [00:17] Dark_Merlin: but in void meditation it just leads to scattered thoughts
      [00:17] DaveyCash: ok, are you ok with getting past the initial breathing exercise, before the void meditation?
      [00:17] Dark_Merlin: how do you mean 'getting past" aha
      [00:18] fOrceez: steadying your breath
      [00:18] Dark_Merlin: i'll sit and breathe until i feel really relaxed and then start
      [00:18] fOrceez: feeling it get shallower
      [00:18] DaveyCash: ok, that's good
      [00:18] DaveyCash: right, I'll go through how I do void meditation with you
      [00:19] DaveyCash: (sorry about the slow typing, people were just talking to me)
      [00:20] Dark_Merlin: thats cool aha
      [00:20] DaveyCash: I start with my eyes closed, and I first focus on sound
      [00:20] DaveyCash: I try to pay attention to every sound that I can hear
      [00:20] DaveyCash: and try to become aware of them all

      [00:21] DaveyCash: then what I do is, I shift my focus to something completely different: touch
      [00:21] Dark_Merlin: hm
      [00:21] DaveyCash: I try to be aware of the feeling in my hands touching my knees
      [00:22] DaveyCash: and of the feeling of sitting down on the floor, the feeling of my eyelids being shut
      [00:22] DaveyCash: etc
      [00:23] Dark_Merlin: heightened awareness
      [00:23] DaveyCash: I do this for as many senses as I can, and then I try to start being aware of more than just one
      [00:23] Dark_Merlin: through each of the senses
      [00:23] DaveyCash: yes
      [00:23] Dark_Merlin: but isnt that focal?
      [00:24] Dark_Merlin: replacing your thoughts with sensory imput
      [00:24] DaveyCash: at first, yes, but
      [00:24] DaveyCash: I aim to be slightly aware of all the senses, rather than very aware of one
      [00:25] DaveyCash: at this point where my attention is scattered in small bits, it becomes easier for me to ignore everything that's going on around me
      [00:25] DaveyCash: because it all start to seem like background thoughts
      [00:25] Dark_Merlin: that makes sense to me now
      [00:26] DaveyCash: that's good
      [00:26] Dark_Merlin: you dont simply just sit and get all your thoughts to go away
      [00:26] Dark_Merlin: being aware of all your senses at once just makes you aware of yourself completely
      [00:26] DaveyCash: and finally I get to the point that the thoughts are just passing through me, because I'm paying so  little attention to each of them
      [00:26] Dark_Merlin: and the thoughts slow and you dont pay attention
      [00:26] Dark_Merlin: yeah!
      [00:26] Dark_Merlin: :D
      [00:26] fOrceez: Wait- so does that mean i'm doin it wrong?
      [00:26] DaveyCash: so does that all make sense?
      [00:27] DaveyCash: I kind of answered your question too fOrceez, at least, that is how I do void meditation

      [00:27] DaveyCash: ok :)
      [00:28] fOrceez: Well then, what technique of meditation do you use the most/find the most helpful for what you want to achieve?
      [00:28] DaveyCash: fOrceez: I use void meditation by itself, when I feel particularly stressed
      [00:28] DaveyCash: or if I'm angry or sad
      [00:28] DaveyCash: hmm
      [00:29] DaveyCash: I guess I use the combined technique the most. Because I'm constantly trying to improve my recall further and have more LDs, and mantra meditation seems to help me with that
      [00:30] Dark_Merlin: i really like the combined technique
      [00:30] Dark_Merlin: even if i havent been doing the void as well as i could
      [00:30] DaveyCash: fOrceez: what do you think it is that you want to achieve from meditation?
      [00:30] fOrceez: Just to make it clear: the combined technique is focal on a thought?
      [00:30] Dark_Merlin: combined technique is void meditation to clear your mind
      [00:31] Dark_Merlin: then focal meditation on a mantra
      [00:31] DaveyCash: yes
      [00:31] Dark_Merlin: for increased MILD capabilities >:D

      [00:31] fOrceez: I want a deeper understanding of myself, and if i can,
      [00:31] fOrceez: get more lucids from the focal med on mantra.
      [00:31] fOrceez: Seeing as i'm taking the day off, i'll do some meditation later.
      [00:31] DaveyCash: ok, well,
      [00:32] fOrceez: Also; if you could tell me if i'm doing void meditation correctly, that'd be awesome..
      [00:32] DaveyCash: a deeper understanding of yourself is gained through void meditation to a certain point, and then meditating on your 'self' (focal meditation in a way)
      [00:33] fOrceez: I do breathing for about a minute,  then I start my meditation. I don't do the early focal meditation that you do, i just let my mind.. be at ease?
      [00:33] DaveyCash: so I think that could also be done while meditating on a mantra, in the combined technique
      [00:33] fOrceez: I don't go into any thoughts and look into the darkness behind my eyelids. 
      [00:34] DaveyCash: oh, well void meditation can be different for everyone, so the specific way that I do it, most likely won't work for everyone
      [00:34] DaveyCash: that's why the technique seems so vague in the actual lesson
      [00:35] DaveyCash: I try to cover the technique that will work for everyone
      [00:35] fOrceez: ah.
      [00:35] DaveyCash: the way you do it seems ok, and does it work for you?
      [00:35] fOrceez: It does , and when I come out of the meditation, i feel like i'm in a dream.
      [00:35] fOrceez: I always have to rc after meditating.
      [00:35] DaveyCash: haha
      [00:36] DaveyCash: ok, then if it works, you should keep doing it :)

      [00:37] DaveyCash: I'd kind of like to stretch the session for another 20 mins
      [00:38] fOrceez: Have you ever tried to extend your conscioness outside of your body when meditating?
      [00:38] DaveyCash: I have actually
      [00:38] fOrceez: Once when i was void meditating, i concentrated my consciousness in like.. a  bubble
      [00:38] fOrceez: then i moved it to the left and to the right
      [00:38] fOrceez: IT felt really really really weird
      [00:39] DaveyCash: in focal meditation a lot, when I go very deep, I almost feel like I'm getting closer to the object
      [00:39] DaveyCash: and I try to extend my perception to the object as well as my own body
      [00:39] Dark_Merlin: understanding the object itself?
      [00:39] DaveyCash: yes
      [00:39] Dark_Merlin: i tried that while i was focal meditating on a pen
      [00:40] DaveyCash: haha! I used a pen when I tried it
      [00:40] Dark_Merlin: trying to understand how the pen could bend to my will if i understood its structure
      [00:40] Dark_Merlin: it's plastic
      [00:40] Dark_Merlin: plastic is energy
      [00:40] fOrceez: Everything is energy! ^_^
      [00:40] Dark_Merlin: i'm energy - therefore why shouldnt i be able to bend the pen

      [00:40] Dark_Merlin: but it felt trippy

      [00:43] DaveyCash: I suppose I haven't actually tried looking into myself and trying to understand myself better
      [00:43] DaveyCash: but I have delved into psychic stuff with meditation

      [00:44] DaveyCash: I didn't have any success with it at all, but I still have an open mind to it
      [00:44] Dark_Merlin: the most i've tried is object manipulation/tk
      [00:44] fOrceez: So what's your view on shared dreaming?
      [00:44] DaveyCash: I basically followed an online course on psionics
      [00:44] DaveyCash: on shared dreaming……that's a good question

      [00:45] DaveyCash: I have had two experiences in my life, that I can recall,

      [00:46] DaveyCash: well I don't want to go into shared dreaming too much, or psionics either, in this class

      [00:55] Dark_Merlin: a lot of people focus on their 3rd eye to induce visuals when they're WILDing
      [00:55] DaveyCash: I guess it was when I was meditating on the pen once
      [00:56] fOrceez: Do you use the same pen all the time?
      [00:56] DaveyCash: I was really getting deep into the focal meditation (nope I just use any pen lying around the house),
      [00:57] DaveyCash: and the floor began to move up and down, following my breaths
      [00:57] DaveyCash: when I breathed in, it appeared to lift up, and then go back down when I breathed out

      [00:57] DaveyCash: I kept meditating and went deeper
      [00:58] DaveyCash: and then this is where I felt like I was getting closer to the pen -
      [00:58] fOrceez: and then it exploded.
      [00:58] DaveyCash: it was as if I was moving now, not the floor. And I seemed to tilt and I appeared to be getting closer to the pen
      [00:59] DaveyCash: it didn't go further than that, but I really felt relaxed and completely focused when I came out of the meditation
