Help me get in better shape by choosing compelling anime :D

Ok, so I've got this elliptical at home, and I've been using it. I'm finding that the more excited I get while watching a show, the more calories I burn, and the more strides I get in. I recently re-watched Evangelion, and it was a breeze, cause the suspense, and the way the action mounted up, really kept me going.

Does anyone know of similar anime series that really:

1) get you pumped while you watch it

and

2) Preferably something where the background story is revealed bit by bit as you go, with a clear "secret" looming, would be awesome.

I think you would love One Piece. The history of it is developed bit by bit and have an awesome plot/characters. And that's the less biased that I can talk about it. Take a look.

Naruto and Bleach without the fillers definitely! If you want to burn more calories, do everything super fast! I am energetic as a duracell battery, and I stay fit! My thoughts are fast, and my actions aswell. Eat all you want ftw!

Death note has the suspense covered. Otherwise, all the good anime I know are distinctly peaceful.

you've already got Evangelion, so there's not much left. try watching action movies. good for killing time.

I enjoy fairy tail, bleach, naruto and legend of the legendary heroes all make me feel pumped after Im done watching an ep (ask long as it had some nice fight scenes).

naruto-onepiece-bleach these are commonly known as "the big 3" in anime, in that they are the most popular anime currently. none of them are particularly good or 'deep' but they have a lot of action i guess which would be good for exercising.

toppa tenga gurren lagaan has a lot of action, is extremely energetic as a show and plot, fun to watch and is pretty good. like a saturday morning cartoon pretty much. lots of fun if not taken too seriously. just don't expect an evangelion (which I personally feel is overrated), but gurren lagaan isn't psychological or anything. good for exercising i'd imagine.

hm.

I don't really know any others I'd recommend.

you should try music... fill your ipod with all your favourite uplifting songs, thats what helps keep me going

Code Geass more or less matches the description of what you're looking for. It's got a few similarities to Evangelion (*cough* mechs) and Death Note, but is really something else entirely.

Cowboy BeBop is fairly good. Eh, probably not quite what you're looking for...there isn't any real central plot or suspense, but it's worth the view when you have some time to kill. Otherwise, yeah, I'd recommend Death Note. It kept me hooked, and I watched all 37 episodes in two days.

i see you watched evangelion already
but did you watched the newer version of it? i mean rebuild of evangelion? with new effects and incredible detail?

maybe something like gundam is really nice to watch aswell.
i finally found the subbed version of gundam wing!
i recently watched another anime wich is like neon genesis.
its called RahXephon

i never had the chance to finish it but its pretty interesting!
