Dream Radio is an internet radio station dedicated primarily to dreaming advice and other dreaming related things, and also to non-dreaming-related general banter. The inspiration for it came from a similar idea by Zebrah, and ShockWave coined the idea of a dreaming-related radio station, broadcasting 24/7. We haven't yet begun full-time broadcasting, but we have been running a series of tests over the last 1-2 weeks. Even in the testing period, we have had a phenomenal response from the DV chat regulars, and also from people who have joined as guests on our test shows, two of which include Oneironaut and Slash112. We've had a variety of DJs on the station, so we know that a lot of people would love the chance to come on-air. This brings me to the crux of this post. We've decided to open up the radio, to allow people to apply to become a DJ. The regulations for DJing can be found below, along with a few questions that you should answer if you're applying. If the topic of dreaming, or a related topic, arises during a general discussion, this should take prescedence unless there is good reason not to. Controversial topics, or topics that could be considered offensive, should be kept off air unless permission is given by a Dream Radio Producer. Shows should ideally be planned out beforehand, to an extent. For example, guest shows should still have a solid structure to them. The only people that are allowed on-air are Producers, DJs and Guests (authorized only by at least two Producers). All shows must be approved beforehand by at least two Producers. Laws regarding broadcasting rights apply on-air. Unless Dream Radio clearly has the right to broadcast something, it must stay off the air. While Dream Radio is being advertised on DV, all DV rules apply on-air. This includes not allowing banned members to become Guests or another position. These regulations may change at any time, and you agree to any future revisions of the regulations, or you must stand down as a DJ. You must agree to, and abide by, these regulations if you wish to become a DJ. If you are applying, please answer the following questions. If not, any feedback is welcome. I'd like to apply for the position of assistant DJ, as I'd rather co-host/assist a more full time DJ when I can. 1. Why do you want to become a DJ? The radio is super cool idea and I'd like to contribute to both it and Dream Views as a whole. This seems like an entertaining way to do so. 2. Have you had experience in DJing or the broadcasting industry in the past? I've not. I was interviewed by Kona a few days ago and have been in multiple Skype calls, though. 3. How much would you say you know about dreaming, and other related things? I know a lot about sleep, general dreaming, and lucid dreaming (especially sleep paralysis/REM atonia/WILDs). I also have a lot of books on vitamins, supplements, herbs, etc. which could come in handy for questions regarding the subject. 4. What do you think you can contribute to Dream Radio as a DJ? Information about dreaming, which is what this is all about, and a friendly personality that's open to discussing anything with anyone. 5. The interview was a lot of fun. I would love to come on as a guest DJ some time. I really don't have the time to be a regular, but it would be nice to get some air time in. # Why do you want to become a DJ? Because I'm awesome. Also, way back in the day I had submitted an idea regarding beginning a DV Radio broadcast, but never had the means to put the wheels in motion. I would love to participate in such a project now that someone has been able to turn it into reality. # Have you had experience in DJing or the broadcasting industry in the past? No, but I work in a call center and on a least a dozen occasions I've been told I have a 'radio voice.' Does that count? # How much would you say you know about dreaming, and other related things? Quite a decent amount. In regards to my 'studies' on DV, I've been registered nearly 5 years. Active for almost 4 of those and served in the capacity of a Dream Guide for a large portion, if not a majority, of that time. Outside of DV I've introduced a multitude of people to lucid dreaming, and others I've helped understand and give terminology to what they were experiencing. # What do you think you can contribute to Dream Radio as a DJ? Experience, Humour, Aspiration. My experiences with not only Dreamviews, but lucid dreaming as a whole, give me strong experience on the subject. I often share what I can of my knowledge on the forums, and it should be easy and seamless to transfer that forum-text to radio-voice. Also, my hair.
