I don't necessarily agree with this...but I'm open to the idea. I think there's alot more to Snape "killing" Dumbledore than meets the eye...especially since he let Harry live...and many other reasons if you read back through the books.

And I mean...Dumbledore is the shit...I don't think that Rowling would have allowed Dumbledore to trust in Snape the way he did and then be wrong. Then that would make Dumbledore look stupid AND dead. And I just don't buy that.

Also...doesn't he somewhere say something like...I would trust Snape with my life. Or did I make that up.

Totally turned hiss back on his family when he joined the Ministry of Magic. I don't remember the details (*ashamed at self*) but he was beyond an idiot. I don't hate him, but I have to shake my head every time I read his name. I bet they're going to leave that out of the movies... or leave it in, considering in a sense it's somewhat inconsequential (at this point, but could get bigger in the next).

To be honest...even after everything that's happened I'm still not certain what side he's REALLY on. [/b]
I'd definitely agree with you on that one. Rowling is amazing when it comes to conveying emotions about characters, so we'll just have to wait and see.

I agree... my theory is that Dumbledore drank the potion, knew he was going to die after doing so, and Snape and Dumbledore planned it so Snape could kill Dumbledore, so it would appear to the Death Eaters that Snape really was loyal to Voldemort by keeping the Unbreakable Vow, but Snape would still spy for the Order of the Phoenix and therefore somehow pass the information needed to find the missing Horcruxes, and for Harry to kill Voldemort in the end.

But there's also a good chance of Rowling killing off both Voldemort and Harry - that way no one could write about the Harry Potter character after the series is over.

I think that's a pretty sweet theory you got there...whether right or wrong.

Yeah, that is definitely a possibility.
I mean, she's been REALLY adamant that she doesn't want the series going on in ANY way after the seventh book.

I agree with Keeper that Snape is probably a good guy. Dumbledore's last words were "Severus... Please..." which I take to mean "Severus, please carry out the Unbreakable Vow so that you will not die and that you will secure Voldemort's trust."

She should. I would absolutely hate to see the novels carried on by some inexperience writer. As wrenching as it might be to us and Warner Brother's bottom line, good series stop. They don't drag on. I know I would, but that might just be because I wanted to slap Harry upside the head ever since they cast Daniel friggin' Radcliffe for the part.

I agree... my theory is that Dumbledore drank the potion, knew he was going to die after doing so, and Snape and Dumbledore planned it so Snape could kill Dumbledore, so it would appear to the Death Eaters that Snape really was loyal to Voldemort by keeping the Unbreakable Vow, but Snape would still spy for the Order of the Phoenix and therefore somehow pass the information needed to find the missing Horcruxes, and for Harry to kill Voldemort in the end.[/b]
That theory fits perfectly. Problem being I bet there's a thousand variations or different theories that could also fit just as well, but this one seems quite probable. Voldemort's (utterly stupid) in that he thinks death is the worst thing that could happen to a person ever, so making the potion gruesome enough to do that seems about right. Snape being good in the long run could also work in that he gets pretty damn stoked when Harry calls him a coward.

Pulling a fast one on the Dark Lord to end all Dark Lords and then being called a coward by a kid that Snape doesn't have to like (obviously) and probably thinks is a bit uppity in the midst of battle might get me a little snippy too.

Looking over it, I'd half bet on Malfoy doing a good turn in the last book. He wavers at so many points.

Oh well. C'mon Rowling. Write the book already.

It's a shame really, that those people have invested so much time into that website, when Rowling has even seen it and has confirmed that he is in fact dead.

She actually has. It was in an interview. She said something along the lines of, "He's dead so there's no point in saying he is. I know ther is a website, dumbledoreisdead.com, I think. But I assure you he is."
That's not an exact quote but it was something like that.

I'll go look for it.

EDIT:
Here it is:
Source http://www.hpana.com/news.19531.html
(Question about upcoming deaths): You shouldn't expect Dumbledore to pull a Gandalf. I need to be more explicit: Dumbledore is definitely dead. I know there's an entire site out there called DumbledoreIsNotDead.com, and I'm sorry they're not going to like this answer.

Screw you, Rowling. Gandalf was a Maiar. Dumbledore was this OAP who needed silencing due to tax evasion/complications (the full plotline to which is revealed in the last book), and Snape was the only convenient way to do it.

Y'know what's funny?
Those "Dumbledore is not dead" folks, after hearing the Gandalf line from Rowling came up with a NEW theory:
That Fawkes was a horcrux, so Dumbledore was never entirely dead, hence wouldn't be pulling a Gandalf.
Man, I wish I could turn off my brain at will like they can.

Yeah, Dumbledore's definitely dead. But the phoenix Horcrux would be a really weird twist, wouldn't it?

Yeah--especially because that would mean Dumbledore murdered somebody in order to create the horcrux. Weird, eh?

One thing I'm sure we all agree upon is that there is more to Dumbledors "death" then is readily aparent

Harry is the final Horcrux.
My theory is, when Harry got the scar ("the boy who lived") what Voldemort was really doing was NOT trying to kill Harry, if he really wanted to kill him chances are he could have, but what he did is he made him the final horcrux.
Thus, Harry must be killed in order to destroy Voldemort
