What should've been there was "If I had GTA on PS3".

Sixaxis motion controls don't downgrade anything, they're optional. They're even turned off by default so you aren't bothered by them. Its just a novelty extra that some people might like to try. I can't think of anything else that downgrades the game either.

Is it just that online servers are struggling at the moment, and it won't be getting DLC? Because I can't see these points degrading the game either. One is temporary and to be expected on a new network like the PSN, and the other doesn't affect the game until later this year. Even then, only a relatively small portion of the GTAIV owning population will be bothered by it.

As for me I just hate PSN. I'm an online gamer. I make it a must to merck people on a daily basis and I don't discriminate against any race or country, for instance a person in Australia would recieve the same online Molly-whoppin as a person Korea. Just the same as someone in Texas would receive the same treatment as someone in Montana. You can count on it. I took auto-aim off GTA, Old school style babe' I learned to shoot when Wild Gunman was out, big arcade stylin, circa 80's and I'm damn good at it.

Thats cool man. I don't dislike anyones preferences, I'm just irritated by Amazeo's bold statement that the PS3 version sucks. Its the same game, so I can't see the logic in it.

I don't doubt that xbox live has a better online experience. I'm not a big online gamer myself, but I can't wait to get online with some mates and wreak havok

If someone were to say PSN sucks, I could accept that for sure. I don't necessarily agree since it still works and I'm not a big online gamer, but it wouldn't irritate me like saying "GTAIV on PS3 sucks" irritates me. Saying the PSN sucks isn't a baseless statement since PSN is almost brand new still and has a lot to learn before it can really hold its own against xbox live.

Hiros you make a valid point. I think I am being a bit biased without giving PS3 a shot. I may get on it more if I can pull my wife away from it..tehehehe. It's actually her system and not mine. She doesn't to much care for the 360 because of the massive amount of 1st player shooter games. The PS3 is on the largest TV in the house, so I'm forced to use my 32 inch to play 360. On another note PS3 really does look damn good with HDMI.

It was fairly predictable that this thread would devolve into the typical platform wars.

Here's some food for thought for everyone... whichever system you own, you should be THANKFUL that the other exists. It's the competition between MS and Sony (and to a smaller degree Nintendo) that drives the innovation that keeps games and systems improving all the time.

I own a 360 and love it to death. Is it better than a PS3? I have no idea, nor do I care... it rocks beyond what I expected, and it makes me happy. But I also recognize that without the arms race from PS1, Xbox, PS2, Xbox 360, PS3, we'd all be playing Donkey Kong XXVIII and have no idea what we're missing.

My favorite thing about the PS3 is that it will eventually mean another Xbox, and thereafter a PS4, and everyone gets to keep having fun.

Since this has devolved into a system war again...

This whole thing is absurd....

I have had a first generation X-box 360 since around the time of launch and it has not, crashed, gotten the 3 lights of death or had any other issues whatsoever...I also have a PS3 and have had no hardware problems yet either...

The Pros of each imo

360

1. The Library of games...Herb is delusional if he thinks that PS3 has anywhere near the scope of good games that the 360 has...
2. System failures...People are under the assumption that every system made crashes and fails and is a chore to use...This is just ignorant bs to try to justify having only one system that has yet to have a killer app...
3. Xbox Live...The single most revolutionary thing in modern day online game play...
4. The Controller... I have yet to play a game where the PS3's Si-axis has been used in an innovative or slightly fun manner...Plus I have always loved the size and heaviness of the 360 controller..


PS3
1. Media Center... If you don't want to play games and have a nice media center, the PS3 is the better system to put at the center of it..Blu-ray, Better device compatibility, the Sleekness, The functionality...
2. Blu-Ray...The PS3 like the PS2 before it is at the forefront of the new media revolution and Sony once again has put one of the best players onto the market under the label of Playstation...Movies in blu-ray are really that much better and more innovative than the now defunct hd-dvd and the fact that it comes with one out of the box makes the battle of movie viewing a no question win for Sony
3. Potential... Like the PS2 before it, before GTA3, The PS3 at this point has way more potential to grow than the 360...Whether or not it gets that one exclusive killer app is still to be decided but the potential to be the number one system is there...People cite resistance as the first PS3 killer app but it is far from having the scope or reach that GTA3 had for the PS2...


The Cons

360
1. Lack of blu-ray and now hd-dvd support... The movies on live thing is great but owning digital media is never the same as owning the hard copy...The format war is over and the high-def revolution is in full swing and will be fully adapted by most in the coming years and the 360 may get left in the dust in this aspect as the sexier PS3 with its blu-ray functionality takes over the market share...
2. Lack of Sexiness/Being the older brother....Being as that the 360 was the first released of the current gen systems, it begs to offer the question of "How much life does the 360 have and what is it going to do to beat PS3, 2 even 3 years down the line?"...I don't have a clearcut answer for this and it kind of worries me about the 360's longevity...

PS3

1, The games... There is not one game that makes me say, I am glad I bought a PS3.. BioShock/Halo 3/Gears of War/etc.. are all better shooters in their respective rights than Resistance...
2. The controller....I hate the si-axis... it seems like a gimmic and is no where as innovative as the Wiimote... It has yet to be used effectively to enhance a game...
3. Online... The playstation network isn't xbox-live and that disappoints me... The online functionablity of the Xbox 360 may be what keeps the system alive...


I left out hardware failure as a con because I have yet to experience it from either system and I can base my opinions only on first hand experience in this matter... Both systems are great and both have their shortcomings but to dismiss one over the other is asinine and foolish... My preference for gaming lies with 360 right now but that could change and I will be the first one admitting it...

Each has their faults and each has their strengths.
In a perfect world everything would be perfect, but guess what?
It's not.
So for now, enjoy the console that you use, or the few that you have, but don't argue over which is better, because in the long run, neither is.

Okay, I shouldn't have said that the PS3's version sucks.

But it just seems like everyone jumps at the sound of someone saying a title is better on one system over the other.

Look, I'm not going to lie and say that the PS3 is going to fail, I'm just saying that the Xbox 360 version has the slightly better edge on GTA.

I was GOING to buy a PS3... but, what is there to get besides MGS4, LittleBigPlanet, and Resistance 2 (even though I disliked the first one)....

I really don't see the value in owning one if I already own a Xbox.

I did forget about Haze...

I disliked the first Killzone, and.. let's just say that Driver 3 sucked major balls.
I don't like racing games either, and I like Dead or Alive over Tekken. Soul Calibur is also coming to 360 anyways.

Like I said before, "whatever" you're only making a hole larger and larger the more you try and justify when it's pretty obvious. In order to find contridiction you had to read not ONE but TWO posts. So once again, WTF IS UP WITH THAT?????

The online on PS3 is working now for the most part, and may I say quite beautifully? There's almost no lag whatsoever, I've just played for like 2-3 hours and only encountered two people who lagged. Quite well done I must say.

I haven't even got my copy yet since I ordered online (aussie version is censored) and they're a bit late shipping.
I have played on my friends PS3 though, love the game to death already, haha.
I'm glad online will be ok once mine finally arrives though

I have a question. how big is the map compared to San andreas? I really liked how big the map was for SA. is the map bigger?

Not as big, but much more fleshed out.
