I second this recommendation! Loveless is one of the greatest sound things ever.

But anyway, as for electronic music, I'm into pretty much everything Aphex Twin has done, Boards of Canada, Autechre, Justice, DJ Shadow, The Books....Aphex Twin is an obvious jumping-in point for good electronic music. He has so much variety.

      Trance music is awesome, and this song is a masterpiece ;_;
I love Ashley Wallbridge, great stuff. I'm a big fan of Trance and Progressive House stuff. I like: Cosmic Gate, Luigi Lusini, Gui Boratto, and Pryda are just a few.

I do really enjoy Electro House too; people like: Le Castle Vania, Wolfgang Gartner, Blatta and Inesha, 30Hz (sickest beats ever), Housemeister, and Boys Noize.

I also love Deadmau5 his productions are superb quality.

      You forgot Champion, no-Name

He basically samples a lot of different instruments and throws some great stuff together. He only has 2 albums, but all of it is great.

Man, just checked out she, and his music is amazing. Don't listen to it on YouTube though, shite quality.

      Cool thread.

I've just been getting into electronic music lately. I'm ot familiar with too much stuff but I'll post a few that I like (most were discovered on Burning Man video compilations )

Talisman & Hudson - Leaving Planet Earth original mix is cool, but I like this remix, right when it hits towards the end I just think it sounds so cool:

Booka Shade - Night Falls HOUSE. I'll be honest, I like this partly because of the synth bass tone. That lead is pretty cool too, and that stop-gap halfway through:

The Presets - Talk Like That here's a nice groove:

Timo Maas - To Get Down I love the way the guitar is mixed in, very nice overall:

Tiesto - Adagio for strings Now THIS is some quality trance. Not much else I can say, I just love the way he reworks this piece. As a sice note, I couldn't imagine DJing for that size gig, that must be rdiculous:

Skrillex - Rock 'n Roll Must admit, I've not heard much Skrillex, and I used to think he was kinda overrated, untill I heard this. Say what you want about dubstep, but this song is SICK:

There's just a few off the top of my head. More dance-oriented stuff, but I've just been hearing a lot of that lately, so naturally that's what would come to mind first.

Still relatively new to this whole realm of music, so if anyone wants to make any reccomendations, I'm all ears.

The game "Shatter" has some great electronic music, I've really been enjoying it.
Obviously, it's game music, but I love it.

Dubstep is decent, though it's hard to find stuff that isn't too repetitive. What do you think of Skrillex, Oneironaut?

I just recently discovered Skrillex. I'm new to the dubstep scene, myself. He's got some good stuff. I definitely agree with what you said about it being hard to find stuff that isn't too repetitive. It's definitely out there. Bassnectar has some pretty good stuff, as well.

And as for Skrillex, I made my first ever dubstep music video to his remix of "In for the Kill," by La Roux, set to the movie Sucker Punch. Enjoy.

Hardcore, hardstyle, and gabber. Dark EDM. I'm surprised that I haven't heard of 95% of what has been on this thread. I guess I really listen to a lot of the local rave DJs.

      Bassssss slut

A little bit lighter, discovered it recently and fell in love with the randomness

I really enjoy the hardcore version of Like a G6 at the end. I went to a rave once that played the first song in the mix, 'Hello', in a hardcore style. I fell in love.

DJ Sharpnel's Yonderdome always fills me right up with energy o___o

^For the music not the video... hehe.

Asides from that, I agree with that Loveless statement. My cd came in the mail just last week c: lossless rip + good headphones + volume, baby.

Autechre, Quaristice is probably my favourite by Autechre, just because of how crazy the braindance aspect of that album is. The environments and visuals I get [sober] are stunning, just awesome album.

      Ambient songs like this.... yes

      Prolly my favourite Biosphere song.

I've been into Burial a bit recently, very different, very atmospheric 2 step.

THIS has got to be my favourite album by Steve Roach and his shamanic drummer friends... the way the beats are structured within the ambient atmosphere, just takes me away .__.

Clark - Future Daniel. Not much more I need to say

Deepchord is such an awesome ambient/dub techno combo. They capture the nightlife scene very well. I'd love to walk into a club or bar or even a restaurant and hear this shit playing.

Also, Fennesz reminds me somewhat of My Bloody Valentine in certain songs. He does use guitar for a lot of his sounds, and the layering noise is not the same as MBV but it's still something awesome I'd say.

      A more electronic Fennesz one:

Fuck Buttons - Surf Solar Fucking awesome song.

Has some noise rock elements in it too, which give it a nice unique sound.

Repetative, trippy, repetative. Doesn't make it a bad thing IMO, either you like it or you don't I find. Took me awhile to sink in though, but once I did his music was addictive as hell.

Most of all.... nobody mentioning Secede? The album "Tryshasla" is still probably in my top 3 albums since I discovered it. These two songs are amazing but the album as a whole is just a beautiful journey through bliss and fantasy.

^if you didn't listen to anything else I posted, at least listen to this last one...or second last

Did you think dnb was played on base guitars ' n ' perc ? ( yes i have heard this (and even commited it myself ) but this is very extreem )

Now a days most music can be qualified as electronic.
Even acoustic music today is digitally sampled and digitally processed. Doesnt that make it electronic?
I think real acoustic music can be heard only in unplugged environment without any sound systems ( speakers amplifiers etc). Only in this case the air is really putted in vibrations by the real material objects. I think thats a good topic to discouss. What is electronic/digital and whats not. Its hard to find analog carriers today - but luckly we still have vinyls.
I like creating music my self thats why i was thinking before about what is digital / electronic and whats not and this topic reminded me about it.
      Back to the topic :
My fav electronic music is (nothing new) Afx, Chemical Bros, Amon Tobin ( next month he will visit Poland - must be there ), Orb, Orbital ,Astral Projection ( Aurora borealis is great ), Juno reactor, Vector lovers, Global Communications ( check out if you havent Alpha phase ‪Alpha Phase ~ Global Communication‬‏ - YouTube downtempo masterpiece!)
