Thread: Modern Warfare 2: Game of the Year

Well I just played it.

I got through the first three or four missions, and so far they are fucking intense. I'm already more then satisfied with my purchase. The online mode is also even better then I expected, I thought it was going to be good old COD, and it is, but it's also been revamped a lot too. I really like the addition of all the stuff they put into multiplayer mode, it makes it a lot more interesting to play, and some of the multiplayer maps are really good, making for somewhat more tactical matches than in previous games. I'm impressed.

I just been playing multiplayer so far, will play some single player tomorrow. I never played COD online before so I'm really enjoying it, especially the killstreaks, and how you get perks, new weapons, etc. One thing I don't understand though is how I can create a new class but I can't add a weapon that's included in the default classes. Like I haven't acquired that weapon yet so if I want to use it I have to pick the default class that has it. I'm talking about first recon class.

Finished the game. It was amazing! Storyline confused me though.

I'm trying to play online now. I'm having major issues connecting to servers.

the servers is another thing i wanted to mention. It sucks theres no dedicated servers. what are people supposed to do when it comes to playing clan wars?

Create a private game like the 360 can.

Storyline was pretty good, was impressed by the amount of polish they put into it. I do agree that it was confusing at times, but the second playthrough was much clearer.

Anyone else really like what you get to do at the airport...?

I don't get why people are against that, last time i checked it was a video game, not real life? i wanna try it out when a good download is up. From the youtube of that scene, it looks pretty real to me and well done. It may be a little crazy to watch unfold, but the reality of it is it is a video game, nothing more. Besides...sometimes it's better for the human kind to see these things first hand to realize what it would be like in a situation like that if you really were at an airport with 5 guys shooting up the place. I rather watch and know then be ignorant of it because it's hard to watch.

That's not ideal, due to all the imbalanced game mechanics, such as the nuke and the helicopter.

I didn't particularly like that scene...

just got this game and it's FUCKING AWESOME! In campaign I just got past the level where the Russian paratroopers invade. MP i'm level 13. My 360 gamertag is Killzone530, drop me a message (or just invite me) if you ever want to play.

Treyarch have already begun making CoD 7.

And it won't be a sequel. It will most likely be another WWII game.

But I think what IW and Treyarch agreed on was that they would take turns making CoDs, like IW, then Treyarch, then IW and so on.

So if anything, CoD 8 would be the sequel.

Yup I know Slash, and so far Treyarch has just been making the stupid WWII games, while Infinity Ward continues to make super awesome games, and I hope it stays that way. Gives Infinity Ward more time to work on good games while Treyarch keeps Activision happy with mediocre shit games.

Spoiler for Favorite Missions:

The parts of the game I enjoyed the most was the Ramirez/Washington D.C. arc. They did an excellent job as usual portraying urban warfare. The helicopter crash and the ensuing struggle to hold off the Spetsnaz with the ammo shortage brought up memories of the original MW game with Johnson dying after a helicopter crash. I really thought Ramirez was going to die too. And the missions after the EMP were very nicely designed as well.

I played a shitload this weekend, I'm now lvl 28 in MP. That game is definitly awesome. Anyone here have it on PC?

I'm also sceptic about the clan wars, in MP we can't really change the settings and there's no dedicated servers, I think that's a huuuge flaw.

That's why a lot of people are boycotting the game.

It's basically a 360 port.

A huge flaw in this game is the limitation on the amount of players and how you can't choose which maps to play. There are certain maps that I'm pretty sure nobody likes (Favela and Rundown, just to mention two), and there are some pretty good maps out there aswell that I hardly ever get to play.

I'm pretty sure they will patch in atleast map-choosing capabilities, and maybe a higher player cap too. Also, 7500 points and 10 minute time limit (I think it's 10 minutes) is very frustrating. You get to limber up and then the map is over :/

Yeah, I'm pretty sure they'll make patches...they must do it. I mean, that system is more likely to be a fast matching game...there could be a servers list and shit, at least.
And YES! not being able to choose the map is a PAIN!
