Being a woman for awhile would be quite the experience. It would be great to have a different perspective on reality. The different brain set up would provide me allot of exploration of the emotions they go through.

I would not like their clothing because i have sensory issues and would not be able to wear the tighter clothing many wear or the high heels. Because the brain would be different from my own, I would likely develop a new sexuality and stop being asexual. That would be an odd adventure.

Being a girl makes as much sense as being a man in my reality. It would be cool to be able to shapeshift between the genders, in case one day i went crazy and needed to be away from people who could recognize me for awhile.

Yep, To wake up from a nights sleep to find i have changed sex...I'm not sure how anyone could understand how overwhelmingly happy I would be in this situation. Has been a dream of mine for a rather long time.

For the record I would definitely be bi as a female.

This post is almost three years old, and now you have a female symbol for your gender status. Did you go through with the change? (It might be a while before you read this, if you ever do.)
How do you know you are not dreaming right now?

I was born female and, biologically speaking, I still am 100% female... but I identify as male and plan on taking hormones and going through surgery in the future.

I'm still at a loss how far I'll be taking things. Rereading this thread, before I advocated that it's okay to be in conflict. Now I'm thinking I may actually try switching genders. Well, I'm taking it at my own pace. I'll start off by openly crossdressing more often. I know I feel happier and more comfortable dressing up in a dress and make up than a tuxedo when time comes to dress up, and when it's time to dress casually I'll probably keep wearing boy clothes.

I may or may not take it a step farther and begin hormones. Like I said, one step at a time, and only as I feel comfortable. I only live once, and I may as well try out the female gender even if I'll sound like Dr. Girlfriend. I can wear girl clothes for a year or something if I fucking want to, after all. From there, I can grow a pair of titties if I want to, too. I'll still be just as tough as my life experience has necessitated, but girls are allowed to be tough as nails too.

Would be nice to not be sexually harassed and discriminated against. There are too many things I like about being female though, and I definitely identify as one in my mind, so no to the permanent thing. Just a days switch would be enough.

I have been playing with the thought for a while, I'm not sure if I would want it for the rest of my life but a couple weeks or something could be really fun.
I guess I could make this a goal in future lucid dreams.

We should all be bisexuals. I hate the fact that there's loads of interesting and cute guys around that I'm missing out just because I'm only attracted to girls. Once again, it's not all about sex and romance but there always tends to exist a line (even if we are the ones who create it) between best-friends and loved ones.

I agree with this, although I'm only attracted to girls, this still would make sense being neutral, if everyone was bisexual it would actually be quite fantastic for everyone.

LucasPotter and OP (and others that don't mind answering):

What makes you feel that you truly are a man/women and not the gender your body is? This is something that fascinates me: is it a sense of not identifying with some (how should I put this) self-generated image of what your current gender looks like? For example if I found out I was homosexual it would be because I would feel attracted to people of the same sex. But what would make me feel like I wasn't really a man? I suppose the answers will vary, but personally I can only conceptualize it in terms of not identifying with my body (a very poor analogy, but like I was a child in the body of a giant), or with some general view of the gender my body was (like a girl who's traits would identify her as a boy if you had never seen who she was).

I'm trying to find the proper chart showing the various scales of gender, this is the best I can come up with. If you look up gender spectrum and scalar fields and the like you'll find plentiful variations of categorizing everything and I invite you to look up the different maps people have made for them, but this chart will do well enough for now. As you can see gender is divided into 3 categories: physiology, identity and expression.

To define my own ambiguity, which will vary from the next genderqueer and transgendered person, my upset is more with gender role and identity, which feeds into norms and binary concepts of gender expression. Personally, I fit somewhere in between on identity and expression. Currently I feel safer and less vulnerable hiding in masculine self expression and a male gender role, and ignoring the rest of it, so that's where I reside until I can find myself among trusted friends again who are more supportive and less judgmental than my family. And what it comes down to for me is finding a mode of expression that makes me feel most comfortable and secure. For the same reason if a girl feels like shit, she'll dress herself up a little to make herself feel more confident, a little girly flair also increases my confidence and makes me feel more comfortable.

I simply don't feel as my authentic self when I act rigidly masculine. To be completely free requires something, the best way I can describe it is like a feminine flair on my expression, not necessary as flamboyant and limp wristed and lispy like a queen but something more musical and less direct. I don't have to wear tight pink pants and glitter every day, you know, but I want the freedom to play with stuff like that and decorate myself as I please without it taking away from masculine qualities.

Ever since i was a young child i felt like i wanted to be a Girl. To answer Zoth's question i feel very similar to OP. I don't feel like myself while acting in my gender identity. Being Strong and the muscular man's man just never felt like who i really was, even though i never done anything cross dressing wise, I dream often of being Female. Unfortunately i am scared to tell family or friends about this. I am surrounded by family that Love me but a lot of family and people who I know and actually care about who might judge me. My mother's one of the nonjudgemental ones though when in tears at the age of 11 came out and confessed this to her she just said it was puberty and sexual confusion. I also live in the bible belt and you can guess how LGBT is viewed here, not to mention that i am only atracted to women like OP said so it's been something iv'e had to wrestle with very often, iv'e been fighting it for most of my life. Thank you Dreamviews for being tolerant and open minded.

I hope that's an attempt to appeal to our stupidity by feeding our egos and you don't actually think this audience is sophisticated. I will never give up the opportunity to read a posted Cracked article.

Yea you're right it is not an easy thing to be transgendered, society is a bitch, a really cruel one. I keep my feelings to myself these days, I don't feel its necessary for me to show who I really am deep down to anyone out in the world because chances are they are closed minded and cruel, sometimes its better to just keep it in our own heads as hard as that is, there are worse things in life.

I used to think I would go all out of the closet and be my true self and undergo HRT or surgery, but then decided to just accept what and who I am and sort of bottle it up and keep it to myself, despite my feelings that come and go, urges to look like a woman, I remedy those feelings through the internet or gaming, to keep myself happy, or maybe im just not ready or never will be ready.

So, I'm a straight/confused person but I don't like women. I don't know what that means. I think I'm curious for all the desires possible that either sex can provide so I wonder, but most of my thoughts correlate to that of the male. I'd rather have sex with a man rather than female, I guess it what I'm trying to say.

I don't think being a female is all that great, MOST of the time, but I'd still rather be a female. Being a shy female is the worst. I once attempted to ask a guy out and it turned out HORRIBLE. I was tired of waiting for answers and he was giving mixed signals so I went for it. He turned into the BIGGEST asshole there is and made me the laughing stock of my school. I still like him is the irony in the whole situation, but being a girl can SUCK. No one lets things go, but with guys he's rewarded for his repeated mistakes!

Either way, both sides suck, I wish there was an in-between. Where we could decide when we wanted to be a specific gender. We'd have to have experience first, sort of like school, where we learn about different careers before we decide to choose a specific one. Then when we got older we could decide which gender we wanted to be. So many people would be happier and HOPEFULLY it would reduce the bullying.

I know what you mean jumpscreamfly, sounds like to me you identify more like in the middle, or fluid like where a person would like to present as both male or female depending in their mood or situation, that is called genderqueer or bi-gendered.

Some people don't feel like they belong in either gender and go androgynous or just identify as gender-neutral also.

For me my whole life being born male felt like a curse, like a cruel joke...I knew most of my life I was different from most, and it took me a very very long time to accept that I am essentially female in spirit and mind, and since my last post here have grown quite a lot and am beginning to make changes in my life to finally reach that goal of being a female that I have dreamed about since age 8 or before.

Anywho, I agree that people should be left to decide which gender they feel like you wrote, not everyone is happy with the birth gender, i'm sure its not a huge number of people but, its enough to be something society MUST recognize and society is now just beginning to really understand this issue.

How do you feel you identify?

      For me its always female.

Guerilla, I identify myself as a female. I do feel comfortable, just sometimes if rather not be classified as one and made fun of as another. As if I don't see the masculine clothes I sometimes wear. Well, what everyone else passes as guys clothes. I just like pants and sweaters. People suck. I'd just rather not be anything sometimes. But I will say I am a female if I have to.

It hurts allot to live in this world with the feeling of not being oneself. For all of my memorable life I felt like an alien when grouped with guys. I was much smaller and always wanted long hair and somehow gravitated to wherever the girls where in just about any social setting. It was and still is a nightmare to have feelings that my own body defies. I went temporarily loony until I admitted to myself what the problem was. I also quite dislike how this worlds population freaks out when someone is abnormal.
