Obama is sending 17,000 more troops to Afghanistan.

That is just for now. He is leaning toward sending a total of 30,000 more soldiers over time.

      http://www.newsweek.com/id/185217?from=rss

Let's think back on all of the things that were said about U.S. involvement in the Middle East when Bush was the president. Things such as, "The insurgents are not terrorists. They are freedom fighters!" and, "We have a terrorism problem because we are on THEIR land (the Middle East)!" and, "It's a sovereign nation!" and, "Bush is a terrorist!" and, "Bush is a chickenhawk. You can't support a war unless you are a soldier yourself!" and so forth. The vast, vast majority of the people who said that stuff (not just here) were big time Obama supporters. Well, now Obama (who also has never served in the military) is doing what they were SO against. (Also, as we discussed in another thread, he is currently doing absolutely nothing to diminish troop levels in Iraq.)

What do you think of Obama's recent war decision? If you are against it, please express just how against it you are. Feel free to use name calling.
      You are dreaming right now.

I'm confused as to why he is doing this and why we are even still in Iraq.
I voted for Obama but I'm not confortable with some of the decisions he has made (Hell, he needs to send those 17,000 to Dafur but that's a whole 'nutha topic).

      He's a politician.
157 is a prime number. The next prime is 163 and the previous prime is 151, which with 157 form a sexy prime triplet. Taking the arithmetic mean of those primes yields 157, thus it is a balanced prime.

It's not suprising actually, since he covered sending more troops to Afghan
in all of his latter debates.

What suprise? He announced the escalation of the war over a year ago.

Also, he WILL NOT END THE WAR IN IRAQ, THAT WAS A BLATANT LIE!

Remember when nixon was running the 2nd time? he ran saying he had a suprise plan to end the war in vietnam, then he escalated it to cambodia!!!

Obama is doing the same thing, claiming to have a plan to end the war in iraq, meanwhile escalating the afghan war.....

      HISTORY REPEATS ITSELF, for sure.

I don't know what the hell is wrong with the world but they are in a trance like state, they worship obama blindly like hes the next jesus or something, reguardless of obamas policies all of his obamanuts follow without question.

Remember what happened last time we blindly followed a single leader?

Bush, the republicans worshipped him also blindly reguardless of policy...

      Obama = Bush

I did NOT vote for obama, or mccain or anyone for that matter, every 4 years we have an elite selection, not an election, wake up people and stop falling for the oldest trick in the book.

I think America as we know it, is going to be destroyed during the obama administration, as it was being dismantled in the bush admin, and the clinton and the first bush, and regan...and SO on until woodrow wilson.

The moment woodrow wilsons hand signed the federal reserve and income tax acts, america was sold out...and ever since we have been fooled into an illusion of choice every 4 years.

Fuck Bush, Fuck Obama, Fuck Clinton, Fuck them all

They lie, and lie over and over again, but the thing which scares me the most....

Is this cult-like trance people are in with obama, it reminds me of the trance germans were in over hitler, hitler was an eloquent man who could just attract huge crowds.....eerily similar?

And for the record, to any obama supporters who are going to read this:

No, I am not a racist, I hate obama policies, not his skin color

No, I am not calling Obama hitler, but the comparisons are starkly similar and terrifying, they are two different men but have the same methods of politics.

Thats pretty obvious. Most people voted for him, because he was a 'charismatic' person. And they knew it. People didn't vote for him because of his politics.

Thats what people did in the 1920's when they voted in Adolf Hitler.

They voted for hitlers charisma, his talent in public speaking, and his energy to gather enormous crowds.

Same goes for mr. obama, they voted for his charisma and talent in public speaking, and voted because they are in a trance state, or should I call it a hitler supporter mindset.

      That's a very bold statement.

I voted for Obama in full realization of what I had done. I don't recall being in some sort of trance state. I do however recall wanting more diplomacy in America's foreign policy. Wanting more funding for alternative energy and other green technology research. Wanting an economic policy that does not rely on the generosity of some of the greediest people in America (Trickle Down Economics is a failure). Wanting our social services to provide adequate coverage for all citizens.

Now I am aware that we all voted for "different reasons" however I am willing to concede that a large amount (democrats, republicans and independants) voted because they were "hungry for change". Thats the bottom line, not sure where you've gotten that trance stuff from.

He always said that he'd do that. This is not a shock. He wants to fight a war on terrorism, not oil or power. There are real terrorists in Afghanistan, I've been saying that for along time.

I understand your point of view but I just disagree with nearly 99% of obamas policies, like I disagreed with bushes policies 100% and I disagreed with clintons policies, and just about every other president before that until andrew jackson.

To me, Andrew Jackson is the epitome of what a presidency should be, on the other hand thomas jefferson was a hypocrit, pledging small government while trying himself to increase the scope and power of the government for the executive branch, we as a nation have always had problems with presidents grabbing for power, even jefferson took advantage as a so called conservative libertarian.

So really, no matter who we vote for, they all go back on their promises, even jefferson, and especially bush and obama.

Obama's promises were unrealistic to begin with, none of them are probably achieveable, in the end its going to make him look like 1 big fat liar, which really blows, I don't want to see my country fail, I want to see it succeed as well.

But when you vote for a communist like Obama, you are not going to get good change, you are going to get commie change, and im not kidding.

National socialization is underway of our banks, citi is now government owned, and so is bank of america, federally owned....

The path to socialism mixed with communism is well set ahead of us, and we need to stop it and steer ourselves back to a free market.

The market we currently have is not free at all, in fact the free market has been restrained ever since the Federal reserve system was in place in 1913.

They hinder the free market, and let stocks crash, then they blame it on the free market to make the people buy into their fiat fractional reserve credit system, we then eventually got off the gold standard...another mistake which was done purposefully under the nixon administration.

But I think I've gone off track and off topic, I just believe Obama will hurt this nation very badly.

Oh I know about that, im not that history blind.

Andrew Jackson did bad, but what I meant that his presidency itself was great, he stopped the national us bank from being formed, which was pretty much a federal reserve of those days, he stopped the central bankers from winning in his presidency and to me that means THE WORLD.

Though I too am not quite sure about Mr. Obama, consider McCain's presidency. Would it have been any better?

Ron Paul was the only candidate filled with win, but he lost.

It is not that it is a surprise. It is that it goes so much against what his most of his major supporters expressed for so long.

I am glad to see that a lot of the people in this thread are not the cult followers Guerilla talked about. A bunch of people here who talked against American involvement in the Middle East are being consistent by speaking against Obama's Afghanistan surge. Good deal.

By the way, I am not against the surge. I think it's probably a good idea. It just blows my mind that the anti-war sentiment has taken such a nose dive now that we have a Democrat in office.

LOL! Yeah, I doubt many of Obama's supporters even knew what they were supporting. How many of them actually followed the election and watched the debates?

      Apparently very few.

      Oh well, their loss.

i thought most people had a problem with Iraq rather than the whole middle east.
