Dang - Cigarettes jumped from $3.75 to $7.42 a pack in one day.

Please no talking about how bad cigarettes are for you, etc... They doubled the price in one day. Has this happened to anyone else? Surely it's not just my area. I live in Alabama by the way. Why in the world did this happen?! Is this Obama's doing? Here's something funny: When I was at the counter asking for cigarettes, the cashier said you don't want those for that price. I said, "yeah I do, two packs marlboro reds please". She pointed to the price tag that said $7.42. I was like "holy crap! is this some sort of joke?" Some old guy behind me in line said, "I'm gonna start smoking dope now, it's cheaper hahaha". I was lmfao. PS. Please excuse any grammatical or spelling errors, I'm under the influence of my sleeping medication and it makes me kinda loopy. Discuss EDIT: Oh I can see it now. Gas stations are going to get robbed a lot now. I'll be walking down the street and hear: "I got the cartons! $50 per carton great deal!" They'd sell like hotcakes.

Just HOW loopy does your meds make you? You HAVE to be kidding! I live in West Virginia and I bought 2 packs of Marlboro Menthol 100's at $3.50-ish just yesterday. Hopefully they will go up in price- maybe then I'll finally be able to quit...

How is that "revelation" "raining on my parade?" You must think I live in a bubble where people don't die...Master Shredder . Hate to disappoint. I digress so to get to the point...those deaths which you referred to our out of context deaths. I say that because smoking cigarettes (in terms of suicide) is no different from popping cyanide salt pills. Both kill you and both affect the user by the user's own merit. But those are just my own thoughts...I tend to rather enjoy living...so sue me .

I've only smoked for 4 years though. And carcinogen infused skin? I quit smoking today. I figured it was about time anyways. I smoked my last two cigarettes this morning and I haven't had one since. It hasn't really bothered me yet.

I've smoked off and on for about 5 years, but recently I started buying "roll your own" cigarettes and it's an easy way to cut back, seeing as how you have to take time to roll it first. If tobacco ever got too expensive I'd just drive up the road to my great uncle's farm and pick my own burley tobacco

I HATED roll-your-owns. My ex-hubby and I could rarely afford smokes, so we would roll our own more times than I cared. After we sent in for the rolling machine I hated it even more because hubby would have me sit down for hours making the entire cartons-worth. Then we ordered the revised rolling machine which would add filters and they were an even bigger pain in the butt lol I can't make any at all without one or the other machine (and I have neither any more).

Aw come on, rolling them is fun - it's part of the ritual. Once you learn to do it properly it only takes about 30 seconds. It's actually much easier without using a machine. Next people will stop drinking tea and coffee because they can't be bothered making it.
