      Obamas win

i'm not an anti-Obama person, i like him and everything but

am i the only person who seems to think that he pretty much won because of being black? i watched tv and see a long line of black (or African American) people who all support Obama and i'm wondering if they even care about the issues? I mean what if he just as bad as bush... or worse and it's okay right?

again, i'm not racist or anti-Obama but this issue kind of bugged me. i wanted him to win for his ideas and not his color.

      Well.

Obama is by far not the first black person to run for president.

I'm sure some people voted for him because he was black, but then again I'm sure around the same number of people voted for Bush because he was white.

If this were true, then Al Sharpton would have been president.

      or Carol Moseley Braun

      or Alan Keyes

      or Lenora Fulani

      or Jesse Jackson.

I liked it when they interviewed a large amount of black people, only they switched McCain's positions with Obama's, and none of the ones interviewed knew. They all agreed completely with "Obama's view".

Fun times. But no, I'm sure it had nothing to do with race...

This makes absolutely no sense, considering Bush was running against a white opponent.

Also, to avoid making a thread myself, I would like to ask dreamviews as a whole why there hasn't been any topics on the stimulus package / that Obama is spending RIDICULOUS amounts of money. (You could argue Obama didn't write the package but that's really dodging the point, unless you seem to think he was absolutely powerless to stop it.) This isn't including all the other stupid mistakes and decisions going on right now. Could it be that a bias swamps intellectual discussion? So much for this community's reputation.

But yes, let us blame Bush for a little while longer.

I'm pretty sure Mes meant McCain. I don't blame her seeing how our brains have been saturated with Bush as President for so long.

I'm white, I voted for Obama. My whole family is white, they all voted for Obama.

Is it because we are black? I don't think race was the issue, I think it helped him get african americans out to vote for sure, but without the support of the other Democrats?

Well if you look at the demographics, race wasn't a landslide factor or anything.

Less whites voted for him, but of course you could equally argue that that was due towards racial bias away from Obama, so the whole thing is neither here nor there.

He didn't win BECAUSE he is black, but the media definitely spun the whole election around racial factors. I don't know how many people often watched the news around that time, (or at all even) but policies and campaign promises were often side-tracked and relegated to the issue of race.... much like how the media ignored the fact that Sarah Palin is fucking retarded, and focused more on the 'sexism' that was being thrown at her.

      thank you.

      i love you

btw, i would like to officially say that i don not blame bush, yes crappy things happened while he was in office but seriously people, stop blaming like a bunch of cowards... it's sickening...

i did use to say, bush sucks, and he is the one responsible for everyting, but when u think about it.. he isn't... i am not for bush, but neither am i for blaming him...

btw, didn't obama mainly focus on not spending any money, yet as soon as he was in...?

why do people who were against Obama always say it was about race?

the polls say, it was about AGE. that was the big difference we saw this time around. the older the person was, the less likely they voted for obama. the older, the more like they voted for mc cain =b

I have to agree with you. Former president Jesse Jackson and former president Al Sharpton won the presidency when they ran because they were black as well. Sad but true.
