I wasn't really intending it to be an insult. I guess you could call it misguided/miscommunicated advice. I was basically saying that when you get so excited about something that you've heard that you repeat it without double checking the available information, sometimes you end up looking silly when you miss something. Thats all. At first glance, the mayan skulls look like extra-terrestrials, but there really is no (respected) theory that they are since we know pretty solidly that they bound their children's heads at a young age to deform them into that shape.
All I was trying to say really, is that this is the kind of slip up that makes people disregard the stuff you talk about; because they remember times when you were obviously way off the mark and then just assume that you usually are, whether you actually are or not.
