      That's definitely a lot; I don't believe I've ever recalled more than 5 in a night.

How long did you sleep for?
We all live in a kind of continuous dream. When we wake, it is because something,
some event, some pinprick even, disturbs the edges of what we have taken as reality.

That's almost ten hours of sleep, so I'd say you had more dreams simply because you slept for a long time.

      I'm not sure then.

Has your sleep schedule been strange lately? Maybe you were having some rebound from missed sleep. I will get crazy nights, like this, after being out of town, or sleeping poorly for whatever reason.

Could be you were dreaming, woke up, and returned to the dream during the same REM period. Most nights I have multiple dreams in the same period (say 4-5am) and can't figure out why I had so many.

I recalled 8 dreams too, this morning. In three 'portions': I woke up 4.5 hours after falling asleep, recalled and wrote down two dreams, then I went back to sleep and woke up by my alarm 6 hours after falling asleep, recalled 3 dreams. Then I did WBTB for 40 minutes, had one lucid dream and two more non lucid dreams. In total I slept 9.5 hours.

I've been able to recall up to 7 on 3 different occasions

I have my alarm go off at 9am. However, I hit the snooze until about 10 or later. I have been able to recall up to 4 dreams in this period alone. My snooze goes off every 9 mins so I'm amazed I could fall asleep within a min and have 8mins to dream before my alarm when off again

I've recalled 7 dreams before with about 10 hours of sleep. I think that you may just be improving because 10 hours is a really long time and I think it's normal to have that many dreams, especially if you wake up fairly often. When I did it, after five hours of sleep I would be waking up every hour to record a dream. I've had a couple crazy nights like this.
