Simple tasks seem impossible in dreams?

Maybe this will be an easy question to answer but I'd really like to know.

Last night in my dream, for example, I was being rushed to leave the house. Prior to leaving I was attempting to touch up my makeup. Everything went from going smooth with all the rushing around me to a confusing mess.

When reaching in my makeup case for certain items I had trouble grabbing them, items would change from what I normally would use to something I've never owned distracting me sort of, and then items that were just literally in front of me would disappear. This caused me to feel incompletely in a sense because I wanted to know where my things went and I wanted to finish what I was doing.

I've had other cases like this where I'm trying to change clothes and the clothes I had laid out have pieces missing or I have trouble putting the clothes on as if I don't know how to dress myself any more.

The worst feeling is in dreams where I'm attempting to close the doors and windows and no matter what I do they continue to open.

I was just curious if anyone had any information about experiences like this. It'd be really nice to have an understanding of it

Ever get that dream where you're late for work/school/whatever but you can't find your clothes and you're moving like you're underwater (sloooooow) and the clock jumps an hour ahead every few seconds? I hate that.

I heard once that since dreaming is on the right side of the brain and reading on the left, you're not supposed to be able to read in your dreams. I can, no problem, but I can't write to save my life. I never even try to type, as it seems that phones and computers don't ever get used in my dreams. Can't climb stairs either, or be anywhere high up. Things start spinning and tilting. Shoelaces? Not happening.

I used to dream about trying to leave my hometown, but to this day I've never seen the city limits. I get within a turn of them, and have to go back for something or the monster shows up and I have to find another exit.

Yes I have situations like that where everything is movie soooo slow. Since I'm new to paying attention to my dreams I don't know so much about the rest but I'm curious to see. Are these in your regular dreams or your lucid dreams?

I'd say you want to look good, and you're afraid that it will mess up. The makeup and clothes I mean. Letting people see you with makeup on like you were some kind of clown. Everyone's got something they're afraid of, and don't want anyone to see. I have nightmares about the end of the world, because I often think about that and wonder what I would do. I hope this helps, and don't take it personal in any way, I'm just speaking my mind about what I believe

I suppose it could be some kinda of subconscious thought like that. Though I'm pretty comfortable in makeup or no makeup. I guess I'm making something bigger out of this than it has to be. Seems there is no explanation for it or I'm just weird and go through this all the time.
