      DO you ever feel pain?

it was about 5 years ago but I'll never forget it. Hands down the worst dream I ever had. I woke up in a dark room floating above a light like one they keep in a dentist's office but way brighter. I was already missing my legs from the thigh down. somehow it was being deteriorated slowly and very painfully, I couldn't scream though. Once the process hit the base of my spine it was hands down the most excruciating pain I ever felt in my life it ripped all of my body away except my spine and worked it's way up to my head. around half way there I wasn't even in y body anymore because I was watching this happen from outside of it. Once all that was left was my spine the bones around it leaving just the nerves and pure pain. I never felt pain before in a dream prior to this, and even to this day it's a rare occasion if I do. Just curious if anyone's had similar experiences.

In short, yes. I've broken bones in Dreams, been burned alive, and the worst for me because of my fear of heights, been dropped from airplanes and tall buildings. It's these types of experiences that first started me on the path to controlling my Dreams.

Everything requires your attention to exist in dreams. You only feel pain if you focus on it. Look over your dreams for ones where you felt no pain and you'll probably notice that all your focus was on escaping or fighting whatever it was that was hurting you. Likewise with the ones where you feel pain, it's not until you focus on your injuries that you feel anything at all.

I once had a dream that my tooth was pulling itself out of my mouth and I had an incredibly painful feeling in my gums. When I went to my regularly scheduled dentist appointment a month later they said that I have been grinding my teeth. So my guess is that my mind put the real pain into my dream.

I've also had dreams occasionally with pain in my arms and such but i think thats when i sleep on them and wake up with numb or sore arms.

Yes, a few of my dreams I am able to feel pain. Mot of the pain isn't bad though, it usually feels like a small pinch. There have only been a few dreams in my entire life where I experienced really bad pain.

Same. When I do feel pain (which is quite often, actually) it feels very "diluted".

There was one dream that I remember being burned alive in... It actually felt pretty good xD

Well I've never felt pain in my dreams before. I've met all sorts of death situation like falling off a multistory building (and hit the ground hard), shot by a gun and stabbed by a knife a few times, blasted with fire, attacked (punched & kicked) by either some humans, monsters, zombies, or ghosts and etc. but they are not painful..just some stiffness where I'm hit that's all. And that is also why I can't wake up automatically from a nightmare, which are still scary to me ~even though I'm Invincible~ xD
      Goals:
      1. Attacking my enemies instead of running away from them~ Ultimately taking control of my dream situation.
      2. Remember that I can always summon a shield around me to protect myself in dreams. No need to fear!

For me, I don't think I ever have. In fact, I had a dream just recently ( Apocalyptic Terror D: (Respawning?!) - Dream Journals - Lucid Dreaming - Dream Views ) where I shot myself in the head and didn't feel a thing, but still died. Yet somehow I didn't wake up and I stayed in the dream. (like, respawned lol) o.O
      Oof.

I tend to only get a sensation of "false pain". I can feel it, and I know it's SUPPOSED to be painful, but it doesn't really hurt at all.

i was once shot in the hip during a dream by a shotgun while fighting off a group of dangerous criminals. I felt pain at first and was limping into a nearby store, but then i realized that the whole situation was completely ridiculous and i realized i was dreaming. I then attempted to fly and i could fly fast but not high so i created a giant dirt ramp to ricochet off of to gain altitude; however, i work up just before hitting the ramp.

I'll feel pain every once in a while. It'll be either as iamshadow describes, a very diluted pain that can actually feel somewhat good. Or it's like CyanLime's experience. When I find myself in a situation where one would normally feel pain my brain instead substitutes a rather strange, alien feeling that I don't know what to think of.

Anyone familiar with the lyrics "I like pleasure spiked with pain" from Red Hot Chili Peppers' Aeroplane? One dream I had was the epitome of that as I felt pain spike in the left hemisphere of my brain while the right hemisphere felt ecstasy spike at the same rate. Crazy.

I've felt pain in some dreams, but usually it doesn't feel quite as extreme as I think it would if it were real. For example, been bit on the leg by a swamp/fish man and that hurt, except in my dream I was lucid so I made the pain go away. I've also been stabbed in a few dreams, which is generally quite painful and usually I wake up soon after being stabbed. I find the strangest thing though is when I've woken up after being stabbed and still feel a bit of the pain for a few seconds. But, I've also nearly had my arm shot off but felt nothing and healed it 2 seconds later. It only looked gross. Basically, I find when I focus on the injuries they feel worse, but most of the time it's only a dull feeling of pain or nothing at all.

I've died several times in dreams, and I felt the pain of it just dulled down quite a bit, sometimes but not often it wakes me up but most of the time I just transition to a new dream.

On that note, I feel pleasure a lot easier than pain.

The pain I felt wasn't really strong, more of a slight numbness. I had my fingers and head chopped off and reattached back in a dream, in another dream I had a bullet stuck in my chest which annoyed the hell out of me.

I more or less can feel senstations and touch but I don't usually feel pain, I did have one dream though the pain was so intense I woke up screaming from it, my arm had been covered in an acid type substance this six armed monster spit at me and I could "feel" that burning at such an intense level , again though i couldnt cry, i dont know why but I never shed tears in my dreams no matter how intense the pain, I scream I wail and make the sounds of crying i feel as though im crying but i never shed tears which in some crazy way makes the pain feel worse. as soon as I wake the pain is gone but that was the most intense dream with pain ive ever had, I have even relived giving birth to my child ( i had done it natuarlly so it was pretty tough and painful) and that pain never came close to the pain of that acid in that dream. bleh makes me shiver thinking bout it XD

That sounds terrible, I'm sorry you experienced that.

I do experience pain in my dreams, although things that cause pain don't usually happen.
