So usually when I take a nap, I try to do a full sleep cycle (90 minutes). Sometimes, I automatically wake up after 15 or 20 minutes, but then I just go back to sleep. Lately though, I've had this sensation when I prematurely wake up where my limbs (usually my legs) feel like they aren't there, like the nerve endings are not active or something. I can't feel my bed, my blankets, my clothes. At times it just feels like my legs are just floating.
The other day, though, it was my whole body. I woke up, but I didn't open my eyes. I could hear stuff going on around me, like a lawnmower outside, the TV downstairs, etc., so I was awake, but my entire body felt like I was floating. It felt really cool, so I just let it happen. I laid there for about 5 minutes, but couldn't go back to sleep. I opened my eyes, but didn't move other than that.
I hesitate to call it sleep paralysis though, since there was no other hypnagogia with it. Plus, it was incredibly easy to break. Moving a limb took the normal amount of effort, and then all the feeling was restored to it. So does anyone have any clue as to what it is, if it is more than just weak sleep paralysis?
