The places in your dreams

In your dreams are you ever in an area that you know but it's different. And then you'll head further down and it's another place you know but nowhere near where you just were and the setting is different also? This always got to me and I have no clue why. I know I can't be the only one this happens to.

You are not alone! I have had the exact same thing in many, if not the majority of my dreams. For example, I sometimes have dreams in which I am at my house, but it is turned around completely and is facing the opposite way. Other times, I'll dream that I'm at my old house, but it has qualities that resemble my current one. And yes, the setting tends to change randomly. I try my best to use these bizzare happenings to realize I'm dreaming. Sometimes it works, but I stick to WILDs for my lucid experiences!

Yep, had similar thing happen to myself this mornings dream. I was at a friends house (everything was in place) but as soon as I walked out the front of his house I was looking at my next door neighbors house of where I used to live. I assume it's pretty common

My neighbourhood is different in dreams but remains consistent dream to dream, odd right? Maybe it's how I perceived it as a child.

You should look into Dream Cartography and mapping these locations and shifts between the real world and your dream world. It's actually pretty interesting how your dream world accommodates for locations in the real world while also making them completely unique in the way things connect. And once you have a fair portion of your dream map filled in, you start to see the connections even better and remember old dreams. It's a great way to get to know your dream world and in doing that, recognizing when you're dreaming and becoming lucid.
