      Are your dreams chronologically ordered?

In my case they usually form a chain. I just need to remember one link. This one will help me retrieve all the others, although there is no continuity between them. They are still different dreams.

Good question! Especially when I try to recall more of the night's dreams, I also find there is a connection going from one dream to another. Sometimes it's like a a common element that connects consequent dreams. At others times, it's an overall theme that is the same throughout the night.

Reading through my DJ, it seems like my dreams are all over the place Although there seem to be some nights when most or all of my dreams follow a broad category like school, family, or video games; this phenomenon seems especially noteworthy whenever I remember more than one dream after a single awakening.

So far my dreams generally appear to be mostly self-contained and independent from REM period to the next. However, as my dream recall has increased to several dreams per day, I'm noticing some cases where I've had a series of consecutive dreams that follow a particular theme. I don't yet recall any instances of a later dream being a direct sequel of a previous one, but it has sometimes come close.

Reading my DJ from now to back in the past it seems pretty obvious that certain dreams actually signify and set the stage for the theme of dreams to happen in the future.
