I assume dreams, like conscious thoughts or daydreams, work a bit like Schrödinger's cat—details simply aren't decided unless you bother to observe it, or it becomes part of the dream narrative. Since most of us usually wear clothes, there probably is some sort of assumption, usually, that we're wearing something, but what it is exactly likely isn't defined until it actually matters.
I've wondered a few times what I wear in dreams, and thought of looking in LDs, but I've always had higher priorities and never really tried it much. There have been occasional dreams, though, in which I noticed I'm wearing my sleeping clothes (the latter is common in FA LDs) or even nothing. If I'm lucid enough, I just don't pay attention to it, since this “fact” seems to vanish and become undefined again pretty quickly once my mind is on something else.
