What are we wearing in our dream?

I know this sounds stupid but I am having this weird thought lately. Are we originally naked in our dream? I can hardly know what I am wearing in my dream? For example, if I were wearing boxer while sleeping, am I wearing it in my dream too? Do scientists and researchers discovered about this yet? This is so embarrassing if I were naked all this time along in my dream even though it is just a dream. Running away naked in my dream all this time along, this is tough for me to bear. Oh my, dream is way too mysterious. If you know the truth, please clarify this to me guys. Thanks.

Lol XD I think it's either random or another subconsciously influenced thing, like locations and people and what not typically are in dreams, decided by the subconscious or random. Now that I think about it, during DILDs, my clothes were random/subconsciously influenced, but sometimes when I WILD'ed I was wearing the same clothes I fell asleep in. Did this ever happen to anyone else?

Wow, I've never actually stopped to look at what i'm wearing in a LD or any dream for that matter.
I will definitely check to see what I am wearing in my next LD.

Also I think the clothes you will be wearing will be clothes you have IWL, maybe even relating to what you wear IWL at certain times.
For example, you're in a dream at school, most likely going to be in uniform etc.

Thanks for those answers. To make this mystery much clearer, I wish both of you and other lucid dreamers do a favor and try this at home soon. I am gonna try to attain lucidity to see it myself. I really hope both of the statements were correct. We don't want to end up being naked all this time in our dream. Even people in our dreams don't have any right to see our treasures.

I have a couple dreams in my notebook where I must go out due to some urgency, but I realize I'm wearing my pajamas. Then I consider if I should change my clothes, but I decide I better go quickly.

I assume dreams, like conscious thoughts or daydreams, work a bit like Schrödinger's cat—details simply aren't decided unless you bother to observe it, or it becomes part of the dream narrative. Since most of us usually wear clothes, there probably is some sort of assumption, usually, that we're wearing something, but what it is exactly likely isn't defined until it actually matters.

I've wondered a few times what I wear in dreams, and thought of looking in LDs, but I've always had higher priorities and never really tried it much. There have been occasional dreams, though, in which I noticed I'm wearing my sleeping clothes (the latter is common in FA LDs) or even nothing. If I'm lucid enough, I just don't pay attention to it, since this “fact” seems to vanish and become undefined again pretty quickly once my mind is on something else.

The only time I really noticed my clothing was when I put some shoes on in a recent LD, most of the time I'm too stoked to be lucid to think about it

I took my clothes off recently in a lucid dream to try to stabilize the dream and I was wearing the same clothes I usually wear in waking reality. Jeans and a tshirt. After I had aken them off they just reappeared on my body so it didn't really work the way I wanted it to.

For me it seems that most of the time in my dreams, lucid and non-lucid, am not aware of wearing clothing unless it is relevant to the moment (taking my pants down to use the bathroom or for sex, for example).
Like everything else in my dreams, my clothes only seem to exist when I am thinking about them. But I'm not exactly naked either unless I'm aware of being naked. It's like most of the time I am neither clothed nor unclothed.

Guess it's not that mysterious at all. How do you even do sex in LD without waking up. Is it the same feeling like a wet dream?

Most of the time it's pretty casual, with no climax. But I do wake up from it sometimes.

Honestly I'm the same way. I know everyone is wearing clothes but I guess I was more interested in what was going on. Good question though!

I usually find myself wearing some awesome outfit. One time I was wearing a cute blue dress. Another time I as dressed up just like one of my OCs. And sometimes it's an outfit I've never seen or thought of before.

So it depends on your subconscious and whatnot like the others said.

I looked in the mirror quite a few times. Pretty consistently it's a white tank top and shorts. Sometimes I get a black sleeveless martial arts uniform.

Along with what others have said, i find that setting dictates what you are wearing. For the most part it's not a concern at all of mine... I just figure I am dressed accordingly. Many times though I will look down and discover that I am half or fully naked though. There is a definite obsession with my penis because it seems to be the only body part i ever look at in my dreams (or at least the only one I am aware of). Sometimes I am embarrassed by the nudity because it's inappropriate for the setting and other times I don't care. The more vivid and aware I am in the dream the less I care. In 2 of my six Lucids I have been fully nude for a portion of the dream and feel free as can be. It's my dream I am doing whatever the hell I want lol

I never really pay attention to things like this. When in a LD I can just tell that I'm wearing clothes even though I don't see them. The only time I really pay attention to my clothes are when they are important to the plot of the dream, but even then there is something off about them, like I'm wearing a skirt outside in the middle of the night while it's snowing or I'm wearing my shoes on the wrong feet. I'll be sure to test this out in my next LD.

That's so interesting. In many of my dreams, what I am wearing is one of the most important details. In a list I made of my most common dream symbols, clothing is one of the most common. For a long time, it was 'inappropriate clothing' - wearing a bra on the outside of my shirt, wearing dresses that don't cover my butt, wearing a weird combination of clothing (such as a memorable dream chasing a murderer through the desert while wearing knee socks and a baggy one piece bathing suit), and various emotions (embarrassment, frustration) about my clothing. Nowadays, it's more often very beautiful and ornate clothing that I'm wearing.

I like to believe I'm wearing a $800 tuxedo at all times during my dreams, not only because I feel like a superspy but for the photo moments in between saving cities. Gotta look sharp.
