Can dreams add fake memories?

Sometimes I have this type of dreams, I remember one dream that I had another family and then woke up, looked at my real mother and then I thought "This isn't my mother...Right? But..." Then I start to feel sad and almost cried because the whole life I had with the mother in my dream was all gone and she didn't exist. I have them sometimes but it's always a different subject(friend, girlfriend, an entire life, dreams, myself). I remember one that I was playing an awesome game, woke up and then headed to my computer to play that game again, then found out it didn't exist.

Do you have this type of dreams? Is this normal? What's your opinion?

I think that's normal for anyone with immersive, vivid dreams and good recall. I do get confused between what is a memory and what is a dream. My family and I argue on occasion about which of my early childhood memories are real and which ones must have been dreams. I'll never know. It especially gets confusing when you realize that sometimes you dream about memories and also have memories about dreams. Ultimately, regardless of whether it was a dream or a memory, it was something you experienced. In that case, all dreams are real memories, no?

I remember I once had a dream which was about some kids doing a science experiment, and there was this sudden flash of lightning (in the dream) from the window and I woke up. I had no memory that the patterns on your hands was ever a thing. I thought it had been just blank skin on the palm of my hand my whole life, and it was just surreal to see it.
