Lightbulb Having Dreams at Night vs. Having Dreams During the Day

Do you think there is a difference in the types of dreams a person has at night and during the day?

Possibly, maybe depending on where a person lives and sleeps. I would think that the surrounding environment could play a role in at least some of the dreams, since we sometimes seem to dream of things which reflect things that were happening outside of our dreaming. Day and night have different levels of light, activity and sound, even when you're somewhere that's more natural or secluded, and we tend to know what time it is regardless, which probably affects the next things we're likely to be thinking about (e.g. like the next part of the day or the next day itself).

Well, at night you have longer periods of NREM, and dreams associated with that sleep state tend to be shorter. During morning hours, or during naps if you are sleep deprived, you experience more REM sleep, which has dreams that are longer and can be very vivid. Your brain is a little more awake, too, leading to increased chances of lucidity.

I rarely dream when I nap, however. Apparently dreaming during naps can be a sign of sleep deprivation. If you are not sleep deprived, you might not go into REM at all. I think a lot depends on the person.

The dreams at night, I had two false awakenings, while taking a nap during the day, I sometimes have dreams where I ask a question and sometimes I get answers.

I think so. I've got a very chaotic sleep schedule, and sometimes I won't get to sleep until after 3am... then I have to be awake by 9 to begin work. Luckily I work from home, so I'm able to sometimes get a nap in during my lunch hour if I need it. It's more due to my chaotic sleep schedule and my REM sleep being messed up, but I've achieved lucidity and had more vivid dreams by doing this. Even If I try the same sort of thing with a proper sleep schedule, I don't have the level of vivid dreams I have if I have a nap during the middle of the day.

It's definitely based on your sleeping habits/environment. I'm trying to change mine right now, but it's hard to fix your sleep schedule..

There has been times when i have dozed briefly of an afternoon, and will have what seems to be a dream, albeit as a memory.
Try as i may to write it, when i "snap out of" that doze, the dream fades and i lose it, or remember it enough to write it.
