      Doesn't believe in Lucid Dreaming?

How do you convince someone thats ignorant that lucid dreaming is real. My mom's boyfriend is being a jackass, and thinks im taking medication or something. I took a little melatonin, thats all. He believes that dreaming is something you can't control. Is there a simple way to explain to him without making either of us seem like a jackass. Would be helpful.

PS sorry if i posted this in the wrong area, couldn't find a right one.

lucid dreaming isnt really something u can prove since its all word of mouth. try and get him to do some research on his own there are scientist who confirm lucid dreaming as real. or try explaining how it works. personally i would tell him to blow me if he wants to be ignorant.

by "taking medication or something" do you mean "insane" or "taking hallucinogens"? The most comprehensive way to explain would be to gather some of the published scientific materials on lucid dreaming (the study I remember involved blinking lights). That might be a little more effort than it's really worth for this kind of an argument, so you could just explain to him that it's a technique used by some therapists to help treat phobias and nightmares, with the added bonus of being really fun if you get the hang of it.

Nailed it. Lucid dreaming is a scientifically proven fact, not something bored people made up. Perhaps someone else could link to some such studies, or you could probably even follow some of the links on the Wikipedia page and find something reliable enought

I'll try and show him research, but he thinks 90% of whats online isn't face, or even plausible. He's kinda old school. Gets mad at me because i'm even on a computer god forbid. I played sports my entire life, then i stop and he starts doing just evil shit. I think its not that he doesn't want to believe, he just wants to piss me off now that i think about it.

      Lol,

So many people believe that Lucid Dreaming's this complex procedure where you rewire your brain completely...

Tell him all it is, is knowing that your dreaming when your dreaming... Then tell him, sometimes it even happens involuntarily...

If he doesn't believe you then.. then give him some proven scientific data..

I think they proved it by signalling of the eyes... Because it's the one thing you can control while in SP, and your LDing...

They signalled by moving the eyes abruptly to the right and to the left... Then checked when they woke up if this actually happened...

It was something like that, but I'm not 100% percent sure.. It'd be pretty hard to prove something that's all in the head...

Well, if he's just being a jerk to be a jerk there isn't anything you can do about it. Good luck dealing with it.

I agree with showing him studies done; maybe even give him a good book about lucid dreaming to read. Even ask him to keep an open mind and try a 90 Day Program with you to help him have a lucid dream. It could completely change his life.
