Lucid Dreaming Club (at my school)

So my friend and I, Azmisov, decided it would be a good idea to make a lucid dream club at our school. We have a thing (I don't know how many other schools have one) called club rush week, where basically a representative from each club sits at a table during lunch and people come and sign up.

Well, today was the first day and I'm happy to report that, not including us, we had 96 people sign up. We're expecting that number to about double by then end of the week and retention rate to be at about 50-60%; so all in all, we expect we will have a lucid dreaming club over 100 strong at our school

Eventually, if we can get enough people good at LD'ing, we are going to do experiments in the realms of shared dreaming and possibly astral projection. Anyway, just thought it was kinda cool

Wow, that's a lot of people! Nice job.
I'd start one at my school, but I haven't heard the word "lucid" even once in all my eleven years being there... Don't think there would be much interest.

Well me and my friend usually end up bringing it up in every class at least once during the year, so everybody that's ever had a class with either of us is slightly in the aware.

I see. Have any suggestions as to how I could bring it up to my classmates? That is, without looking like an oddball?

We're also planning on building a dream-machine, similar to the dream-light, only with EEG hookups and all. It should be cool. We hope we can get everyone excited about lucid dreaming and other stuff. I wasn't actually too surprised that we got 96 members on the first day. Ha ha, we might have to go find an auditorium or something.

Wow nicejob. I dont think my graduating class has that many kids in it XD lol (seriously.)

I want to start something a little smaller scale at my school. But i dont think thats going to happen, there is a big long process to start a club

I was always a dreamer, in childhood especially. People thought I was a little strange.-Charley pride

Holy shit! You should try to have a shared dream with 100 people! That would be crazy epic!

Holy crap! That would be the craziest thing ever! We are going to try to have some Lucid Dream Parties (cleverly named LDP's) during the year, so we'll definitely see what happens.

I don't know man, it can be hard or easy. A lot depends on your teacher. If you have a teacher that you're cool with it's a lot easier to bring it up in that class. Another thing is that a lot of people have had experience with LD's so if you say something like, "I wanna start a Lucid Dream Club here" and they say, "What's that?" You can reply, "It's where are aware of your dream state and can control your dreams." And most people will be fairly chill with that. Sometimes you'll get weird looks but many if not most times people will be interested in it.

At my school we just had to fill out this paper, get an advisor, get it student approved and then get it administrator approved. So I guess it was kinda long. I think I'll post up a picture of our poster we designed

As happy as I am for you, and as freaking awesome as it is that you got this up off the ground, I wouldn't expect all 96, let alone 100, potential members to show up for the first meeting. That's how most of these Club Days are; 50+ people sign up, 15 actually show up to the first meeting ready to start to commit time to the club. If only interest meant follow-through sometimes...

However, if everyone DOES show up, please feel free to rub it in my face!

I successfully had one at my high school, although because of certain technicalities it was the "Oneirology Club" since we couldnt focus strictly on the LD aspect of it. I'm fine with it regardless lol

Yes, that does often happen to be the case. Today, despite having our awesome sign with a purple and red lizard blowing fire stolen, we still had 53 more people sign up today so all in all that's 151 so far. Still 2 more days to go!

I was actually thinking of something similar at my college. The only problem would be trying to get people interested, or rather, trying to bring notice to the club. I like to preach lucid dreaming whenever I can, I think dreaming is an amazing skill that everyone should extend upon! so I was thinking it would be cool to share it

So after 4 days we have 213 people signed up! (I think we have 1700-1800 kids at our school) Having our first meeting on Friday, should be good! I'll tell you how many show up

Well, my school's not half the size of yours, but if I did that here (not that I could) I would expect about 6 members, so have fun with that

There's quite the debate on that. So, you might want to look around for the answer.
Anyways, the student government approved the club, but apparently, the administrator's didn't. So, we went and talked to them a couple times and they told as to prepare a presentation to convince them it didn't violate district policies or anything. We checked up on the policies, and lucid dreaming didn't contradict anything. When we get in there though, they pulled a bunch of crap, saying our clubs dealing with psychology can't teach people how to 'mess with their psyche.' A bunch of lucid dreaming websites also talk about LCD and other drugs enhancing sleep (thus enhancing ld's). So, they got pretty uptight, saying our club is going to get people into drugs and all. We gave them some fairly good rebuttals, but we soon learned they had already made up there mind and weren't going to approve the club, regardless of what we said.

It was all pretty stupid. I believe Xantox is planning on appealing to the district. I don't know how much more open-minded they will be though. Hopefully more than our school admins.

      OMG that's utter BULL!

Good to see you're fighting this. People's choices on how to Lucid Dream shouldn't cloud Lucid Dreaming itself.

But I'm glad you got so many people interested. I wish there was a similar club at my college.

First, the idea is awesome, man!!
      I'm cheering for you!

I wish most people in my school werent complete idiots and superficial meaningless teenagers but actually deeper to be interested in lucid dreaming. Then, I would start a club. I wish you luck with the district. I don't see how this can violate anything....
