Did I miss my chance at my first LD?!

I think I missed my first chance at a LD!

Last night I was dreaming about myself, and my buddy Dave ( Dave is a big Rottweiler fanatic, and has 2 ), and I am a big Bull Breed fanatic ( I have a Razors Edge / Gotti Line Pit Bull, and an English Bull Terrier ). Well, we were having an argument on Pitbulls vs Rottweilers as a working class breed. And something happened that was VERY odd, and I remember RATIONALLY thinking how weird it was during the dream. Dave is a big, long haired, bearded biker, well during the argument Dave called me a " Bitch ", but in the dream he said it like a flamboyant gay guy, or a woman would say it, like " Beeeeeeiiiiiitch " ( Dave has a good sense of humor, but isn't one to " act gay " ). I remember after he said this it was like there was a skip on the dvd that was my dream. This triggered some feeling in my mind that made me do a " double take " on what he said. and I thought.. wtf, that was weird ( Its funny out of the 1000s of odd things that happen in my sleep, this is the one that sticks out ). Anyways, I woke up and immediately thought about that moment ( even before writing in my DJ ) and I couldnt help but think if I would have used that " jolt " and did a RC or something I could have had my first real LD.

Don't worry, this happens to many people, like when you should of been lucid because their was a flying pig by my side or something. Our logic is turned off in our dreams, that's why you didn't think about RCing. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Sometimes we think we're dreaming without actually getting that trademark burst of awareness, which sometimes confuses people as to whether or not they had a lucid dream or not. Raetin's right, and you probably also missed it because you weren't quite aware enough.

      You're getting close though!
We all live in a kind of continuous dream. When we wake, it is because something,
some event, some pinprick even, disturbs the edges of what we have taken as reality.

I get this a lot more than I care to admit Something that doesn't quite add up with trigger this idea in the back of my head, but for some reason, I never follow through with it.

It's absolutely a good sign that you're recognizing that things aren't quite normal

Bm, I wouldn't worry too much. I've been trying to lucid and having a similar hangup between recognizing I'm in a dream and actually completing on that task. I tried a different approach last night and had seemingly untriggered lucids twice. As I was falling asleep, I envisioned all the places that normally come up in my dreams (my apartment, my family's home, my old home, school buildings, etc) and tried to warp around these places as fast as I could. In each place, I repeated to myself "I'm dreaming" and then moved on to the next one.

Sure enough, I wound up outside a permutation of a dorm on campus, and was lucid immediately. RCs are probably still worth your while to work on--that way you can LD regardless of where your mind drops you.

Good luck, and stick with it!

Thanks guys. I perform a series of RCs 5-6 times per day. Should I do this more?

That's a good sign that you are on the right track. Hopefully you will notice more signs, like this.

Don't stress out about it too much. I've found that stressing a lot, especially over whether or not you're having lucid dreams can really prohibit you from having them at all. Relax. You will have lucid dreams. You have an entire life of dreaming ahead of you. Just move along, don't stress or worry. You'll have them soon enough.

      Good luck!
