How realistic is this as a target from Lucid Dreaming?

As well as all the things that aren't possible, like flying, I really want to try playing guitar in a dream.

I'm in a band as things are, and although I can play a lot of things fairly well (we don't play any particularly difficult songs, just generic rock) I'd really like to get better. Having read Stephen LaBerge's book, I saw several extracts about how lucid dreaming has helped people better themselves in waking life.

I'd be lying if I said I hadn't improved in the time I have been playing (that's pretty much expected ) but lately I haven't had much time to sit and practice. So if I was to try playing guitar in my dreams, would it be realistic to assume I'd get better?

Well I think lucid guitar playing, or anything of that sort is best for things like creativity. Let's say you are trying to write a song. Well if you become lucid you could either a) start playing your guitar and hope something unique comes out of it or b) find some way of listening to music and if it's an original idea, try to recreate it when you wake up. In terms of practice, i don't think it will necessarily make you that much better of a guitar player because the physics just aren't there, but it would be a great way to get enthusiastic about your guitar playing and enjoy the experience.

My #1 advice, if it's something you want to try, definitely try it. There's no harm in trying as long as your dream guitar doesn't disintegrate into a thousand spiders who crawl up your rectum. That might be bad.
The Key is to combine your waking rational abilities with the infinite possibilities of your dreams, because if you can do that, you can do anything.

Yes, but there may not be the correct amount of strings on your guitar, and the sounds may not be right. Dream control's very hard if you want to be super-specific about something, especially how the sound will play out. It might sound distorted, or strange.
We all live in a kind of continuous dream. When we wake, it is because something,
some event, some pinprick even, disturbs the edges of what we have taken as reality.

Well, nothing to lose by trying it. And I have been playing for some time, so I suppose it'd be easier to imagine what a guitar's supposed to look, feel and sound like?

id think that yes it would be realistic, there are many artists that have done the same thing, not that i can name any but in personal acounts i can say yes.
I never randomly feel like drawing but i often get inspired by my dreams so draw paint etc to show people what its like, expaining gives them a perverted version of what the landscape would look like they get their own ideas i want to show them, i have another friend who is a painter and the same thing happens as what ur saying, she said she wanted to paint in her dream, i told her the same thing that the subconsciouse is a place of inspiration, and i would beleive that you could better your real life skills through dreaming, think the subconscouse is still apart of you it would make sence that some of that dream practice would pay off.
