Lucid dreaming an art form?

It's hard to pin down exactly what art is but when we talk about art there is a definite hierarchy. Fine arts seem to come first then music and then drama and theater and so on. Is it far fetched to think that lucid dreaming should also be defined as art or is it extremely fitting? What stops people from seeing oneironauts as artists?

I think a lot of it lies in the idea of- "if tree falls in a forest and no one is there to hear it does it still make a sound?"

what do you think?

I would agree because once you get the hang of it, you can in a lucid dream do artful stuff. Such as creating artful buildings, trees, etc. So I would say it is art when it comes to creating the art inside the dream.

It's definitely an art form, but it's more difficult to create something entirely from your imagination because you're still grounded somewhat in reality while lucid dreaming.

aren't you more grounded in reality when doing other types of art

I think you need to listen to some real philosophy. Plato.

The only person alive that would come close to understanding lucid dreaming as an art form, what art really is would be me--so that would make me either one of the most unaccomplished artist so far in history--or something under a rock yet undiscovered. . . .

Any hint that Lucid Dreaming could be an art form is in ancient writings or in mine here.

I think that's exactly right. I was just thinking about this today, and I think that for me, my lucid dreaming is a blend of an art form and a mental discipline that is a means toward the end of self-understanding. It's creative, to be sure, but unlike my writing or my music, I can't share what I saw or did with anyone except through, well, writing.
