So, I was listening to a musician who was 100% Id, he'd just scoop up thoughts and rhymes from his free-flowing consciousness, and when he was in his prime, it really felt like he was tapped into zeitgeist and the collective unconscious. |

That's really interesting. I have a bad feeling if I looked at myself in the mirror though, something freaky would happen thanks to all the horror films I've seen. But yeah I definitely think it's a good idea, seems like a clever way to bring your subconscious out in the open. I doubt i'd be able to pull it off though, I'm almost positive it'd become a nightmare, but who knows maybe it can be spiritual and transcendental too. ( inb4 your dream name is Lucifer :s ) |

I guess it's a distinct possibility that the reply will be my name, but I have the feeling this approach (asking what my dream name is in a dream) will get me a unique response. The mirror WAS pretty intimidating. You know that silly feeling you sometimes get from looking in the mirror, like "he" knows something you don't (or vice versa, "what a gullible fool"), well this dream reflection looked like it was juggling about 10 different people within itself, and like it thought I was amusing. |

Just recently I have learned that some people have "spiritual names." Which is a lot like what you're talking about here. It's like a name for the person's soul, a name that reflects the person's inner self. |
|
I got called Arial in a dream once. My name usually isn't used in dreams, although when I'm dreaming I think of myself as Cole because that's what everyone calls me. |
|
Ah, dream names. It took me years to find out the first one, and turns out it was nearly the same as my waking one, except by the second name and the last names (Yes, I have two last names) being written slightly different. I got a bit dissapointed by this <.< |
|
I donīt know about dream names, but all the mirrors in my dreams seem to be stolen from some funhouse or something. Maybe iīll ask a DC what my name is. Could be interesting. |

Hukif: That's pretty interesting. So you've got a first dream name, and two surnames? Or two surnames in waking life? |

Last night I became lucid and I asked the dream what my spiritual name is. I got an interesting response. |
|
I don't think I have a dream name, in fact I don't even think I use my real name in my dreams either. I am pretty nameless, I wouldn't dare ask a DC since they are dumber then a sack of rocks in the tub. By my luck they would give me the name poopie or little mouse. |

pepsibluefan, ROFL -- well, this is quite possible. In which case, I'd ignore it. |

"Samael" and "Lucifer" get tossed around around quite a bit, but that's when I'm in character. Actually, I did end up with a dream name. I gave myself a different first name in a dream at some point, arguing with an enemy DC about names. A couple months later, I legally changed my name to my dream name. |

You sound like you're a Wig-Wam and a Pup-Tent -- you're two-tents. Seriously though, I love that you quit your eternal job and learned to play the piano. Naw, I don't mean comic book names, I mean something assigned to you by your own sub-conscious. Just like the sound of that. |

I had an interesting (to me, anyway) experience last night. In a lucid dream, I remember my dream/spirit name from a previous lucid dream. When I used the name, it gave me more control over the dream than usual. It's like the dream actually obeyed me more than usual. |
|
I'll try asking my dream guide what it is. For now I guess I'll go with Raphael :/ |
|
Same name as waking life! |
|
I am always myself in my dreams. I've yet to really have a dream or remember of having one where I am somebody else. Even if I were a cop or crook or some kind of zombie it'd still be me so I'd still have the same name. Even if I were somebody else for one dream, that would just be one time so the name wouldn't really matter I guess. -Chase |
