      White eyelid-void?

In my last lucid, soon after I managed to reach a lucid state, my view was covered by the dark void that is common seen when closing the eyes.
However, the void was white, not black.

I could see the yellow shapes swirling around, imagery patterns, and things like that.
I knew I was waking up, indeed the void became darker a second before I was awaken.

Did anybody else experience something similar?

Yeah, it sounds like a stability issue to me. Often times, when my lucid becomes unstable, I will get this "white-out" effect. Other times, it is a black-out effect. When this happens, you could try to dream spin. Spin in a few circles really quickly to try and reset the environment. You could also prepare to DEILD and chain the dream.

The first thing I did was to shout Clarity, before the void was even fully set up.
The second thing I did was get ready for a DEILD, as it is written in my dream journal. However it failed, I breathed voluntarely (my problem with WILDs and DEILD argh).

It was pretty cool to be aware and conscious as I drifted from the dream directly into a full lucid wake up. I didn't feel dazed when I woke up.

Yes I recognise it too as the "fainting of a Dream"
I've had lucid dreams that came to an end and faded into this bleak, pale, white void.
Much like lowering the color-saturation of a colorfull image in Photoshop; untill all color and contrastis gone.

Great post, thank you for clarifying! I had no idea at all what he was talking about until this post. White mist@! Now I understand!

Every time my dream loses stability I lose visuals to blackness, never had the white though. Normally after I lose visuals I can still feel things, a good way to restabilize the dream is to feel your environment. One time when I started to lose visuals I was near a tree. I ran up to it and bear hugged it ripping off pieces of bark and humping violently(in retrospect I think this is absolutely hilarious). It did work though, and I was able to stay in the dream.
Next time this happens try to engage whatever senses are still in the dream. Touch a wall, smell a flower, taste your hand, spin, anything that will keep your mind focused on the dream world.

Not sure what you said, you're superiority complex is blocking my view.

Coming from the person correcting others with utterly useless specifications. BTW your likes are pretty epic. Too bad it won't stay there for long .

I wasn't correcting anyone. I was merely sharing my own association with the dark void, and the white void as mist. As a visual person, it helps me to think of the white void as a white mist, since to me void implies total lack of everything, including color, and white IS a color. Actually, it's every color. Black is absence of color, so void is fitting. Maybe someone else might find it helpful as well, and not an "utterly useless specification". Please get off your high horse before you catch a branch in the face. I realize my post was ambiguous, but I was rushed for time, and in no means did it deserve such a sardonic response.

      Er-hem. Moving on:

Two ways to look at the "white out."

White Void: It is a blank piece of paper.
White Mist: Thick mist clouding my view.

In art terms, white isn't a color. Nor is black.

In light wave terms, white is a combination of all frequencies. This is where the term "white noise" originates. White noise is also a combination of all frequencies. True white noise is. Modern computer generated "white noise" is done with a random number generator (usually). Pseudo-random white noise, which can vary in pitch, is used in sound chip synthesizers to make music in sound effects for 80's/early 90's computers/videogame consoles. It is often used for percussion type instruments in chiptune music. I like me some chiptune. <3

In my first lucid dream, I lost my visuals to blackness. A form of the black void. I laid there and imagined myself eating food that was next to me in the dream. I was able to get my visuals back for a few moments until finally I was out of the dream.

Actually, in art terms, black and white are both colors.

Ok. Thanks for sharing. To clarify my point...black represents absence of light or lack of all colors of light...whereas white represents presence of light, reflection, or stimulation of all visual receptors. "Black can be defined as the visual impression experienced when no visible light reaches the eye. (This makes a contrast with whiteness, the impression of any combination of colors of light that equally stimulates all three types of color-sensitive visual receptors."

Anyways...I'm happy to discuss colors with you in another thread. This isn't really the right place. So back on topic.

RIP is a distance vector protocol that is the slowest and least secure limiting transmissions to only 15 hops.
