      smoking marijuana making dreams longer?

i find that when i smoke a lot before i go to bed, in the morning if im lucky enough to remember my dream, the dreams feel like they go for about 20 minutes which is unusually long for me. and these occasions only happen when ive recently smoked a lot. does this happen to anyone else? does anyone use any specific techniques for smoking and dreaming?

Same. Not to mention my dreams last longer when I'm sober than when under the influence of anything, as, like crispizzle said, it feels like 10 minutes with zero dream recall.

Hahah that's what all my buddies say who still smoke. That if they smoke before bed, that dont remember any dreams.

It doesn't really affect my dreams too much. Sometimes i remember several dreams but sometimes i remember none. The same thing happens when i'm sober as well. Maybe i'm just different.

I would like to add on by saying its different for each person. Some people can smoke and they'll remember their dreams just fine. But on the other end, some people smoke and can't remember anything. You also have to add in the factor that some people already have bad recall, and adding a drug might make it worse or possibly make it better. There are also times when people will remember dreams after smoking and other times they will remember.

Yea, I was trying to do that. It's just so hard though.... I bought an eighth last night.

I find that if I smoke everyday, then after a couple of days my recall will start to get closer to normal. I've only had a few lucids after smoking, but I think they were all WILDs. Weed affects your memory, so remembering to reality check in a dream is very difficult.

its not that weed affects your memory that causes poor dream recall.
smoking weed actually reduces the amount of REM sleep you get. so you literally don't dream as much if you smoke weed.
i stopped smoking weed and suddenly i was having multiple dreams a night with vivid recall. actually when you first stop smoking and you can experience REM rebound. an abundance of REM sleep resulting in super vivid dreams and/or nightmares.

I wouldn't go as far as to say that smoking = zero recall. I definitely get better recall if I stop smoking, but I still get pretty average recall if I've been smoking. The only difference is that it is much easier to forget the dream right after having just woken up if I don't go over it in my head a few times. The same thing happens when I don't smoke, just not quite as quickly.

I smoke like two grams per day and I still remember like 5+dreams each night.

I believe we had this thread recently.
As a general rule, marijuana kills dream recall.

There are exceptions to most rules.

Marijuana has been said to inhibit REM sleep all together, resulting in less dreams, this would in turn result in a REM rebound the next night. It's all about REM cycles, I stayed up all night three days ago, slept in the next day, and had the longest lucid dream of my life from the accumulative sleep cycles
