Question how can a nightmare feel so....good?

Last night I had this weird dream, I wouldnt consider it a nightmare but it is a 'something is trying to kill you and you have nowhere to go' kind of dream.

started out as me and my dad planned a prank against our neighbors. we lured them in our garage then locked them in the garage. later, I let them out by opening the garage door and they came out with a forklift!
then me and my dad and sister ran to a cave. The cave was filled with thousands of spiders so we ran from that too. with a giant scary forklift that wrecked our house, it got kinda creepy. I ran inside a tree house, but it had only 1 entrance and no exit. forklift approaching, I broke the glass in the tree house but couldnt fit through. I was a goner.
Then out of nowhere, my favorite band appeared, and the guitarist used guitar sound waves to push back the forklift. Yay!

so I wake up. I feel really good. I never understood why. the guitar didnt completely eliminate the threat of the forklift, and was still scared to the bone in the dream. why would i feel so good afterwards?

Why? Because they are just so awesome! The feeling of thrill, the feeling of fear, the crazy emotions and intensity of nightmares can make them enjoyable. Though not for everyone, stress out stress in, whatever works for you.

After I have a nightmare, I am always thrilled by the knowledge that my unconscious mind can produce such vivid realism. And I'm happy that it was only dream!

best feeling in the world when u can beat your fears. i have turned nightmares upside down on themselves when lucid. i just luv it!

One of the very first dreams I remember was from when I was a toddler. I was in my house with a bunch of characters from a haunted house computer game I used to watch my brother play. Naturally I was completely and utterly terrified. One of the characters proceeded to pick me up (I couldn't run; I was scared stiff) and stick me in my high chair.
Then they gave me pizza and clapped when I finished it
Dreams that involve two or more very strong, contradicting emotions are my favorite

Dude one of my favorite and most epic dream was of a Zombie Apocalypse. (A nightmare for some)

How it ended: So. My friend and I are in this huge house and we're just standing around on the top floor near the railing of the stairs just thinking about what our next move should be. I look out through this huge window that's situated above the front door (when I say huge, I mean huge) and it gives me a decent view of the street outside. I realize it's approaching nightfall, but suddenly I hear this strange noise almost synonamous to an army marching, but much faster. The street lights turn on and a bunch of Zombies run down the street at insanely high speeds. I turn to my friend and say, "They're comming." and I wake up.

Such a beastly dream. Nightmares have nothing on me!

I think it's the excitement and fear, combined with the relief when you realise that it isn't real, that makes it feel so good. Plus a massive surge of adrenaline

I love these kind of dreams too. I have dreams where I am fighting, possibly for my life. I remember one in an ice cabin, this guy with hundreds of german shepherds was after me and he wanted to feed me to his dogs. There were guns and windows smashed and all different kinds of scenery. These dreams are exciting because if you are not lucid then you never really think to yourself "I could die here" you just kind of think some one is coming to get you and you have to fight them off. I've always woke up excited from dreams like these.

I haven't had a true nightmare in years. I sometimes have dreams with terrifying imagery, and I might even be scared at the time but it always leaves me thrilled. It's like living horror/action movies and even if I don't become lucid, I think a part of me knows that it's not real so I'm OK.
