What happens when you stick your finger through your hand?

I tried this in my third LD, and I felt all the flesh and bones rubbing past my finger. It was rather uncomfortable. But I'm curious as to what happens to other people.
      I'm STILL dreaming?!

Hmmm - I did it one time, and I didn't get all that anatomy. It just felt like pushing my finger through spam or something. Not sure how it felt to the palm - didn't really notice that.

I don't feel the muscles, skin or tendons in my hands either. When I start to push, it's almost as if it's my normal hand and won't go through, but if I press a bit harder, it will resist a little and then run right through without an effort. It's like going through play-dough once I get past that initial part.

I looked at my hand a few times while doing this, and it's pretty much like this, except the area around where my finger connects to the palm is usually darker in color, and looks more realistic. It's like my hand and finger are two separate, opaque holograms.

We all live in a kind of continuous dream. When we wake, it is because something,
some event, some pinprick even, disturbs the edges of what we have taken as reality.

Yeah, I forgot to say it, but there was a moment of initial resistance for me too, at that point it felt just like in real life, and then I pushed a bit harder and suddenly it went in real easy. Shortly after that I pressed both hands up against my window, which felt normal at first, and as I pressed slowly it suddenly felt like tight-stretched cellophane (cling wrap) and bowed outward pretty easily. I pushed a bit harder yet and my hands just popped through and my head popped through right behind them. And the moment my head went through the sound changed - from the quiet of my room I was suddenly hearing a gentle susurrus of crickets and a few birds singing and a light breeze.

I know the last bit is slightly off-topic, but I thought it was relevant because it shared the same initial resistance and then popping-through.

(To clarify deeper) I got through as if there wasn't anything there, but I could still feel everything.
      I'm STILL dreaming?!

I did it once, and like walking through walls, I didn't really feel anything at all. It's like, part of it is there but at the same time isn't; almost like when one eye sees something and the other doesn't, but physically.

For me, it feels just like thin air. A little hole opens up in my hand right before I touch it.

This is one of my favorite RCs because I can do it anywhere without looking too weird. For me, the finger goes through my hand and I don't feel anything at all, no pain, maybe a little kind of weird sensation of in my palm and that's it.

Yeah, when I am questioning whether it is a dream, I tent to become pretty fluid, like a hologram. So it goes right through!

That depends on what I expect to happen. If I don't know I am dreaming, this doesn't work for me unfortunately, but if I know and believe that it will happen then it will. But it doesn't work as a reailty check for me.

Ewh, just reading about how you felt it.. I can't handle blood or anything like that.
I'm afraid I'm going to throw up in the dream now!

But I've never done it through my hand, but I did it through a wall. It didn't hurted at all, but it was a feeling between hard stone and air. It was funny.

Special thanks to Darkmatters for my signature picture.

Mine usually doesn't feel like anything- it just goes right through. my most recent lucid dream though, i tried doing the finger-through-the-palm and it failed. my finger just stopped like in real life. felt very real. It still made me become lucid though for some reason; my theory is that i just recognized the dreamstate once i was able to see a mile away like an eagle :0

Yeah, my finger goes normally trough my hand. One time I actually felt some pressure, like my brain was trying to make my RC fail, but another quick RC and I was all good

I have never attempted this in a lucid. Usually I just do a nasal breathing check or my favorite counting my fingers (really cool when you look away and look back quickly a number of times and each time they change! ) and then I am done with my body experiments. I did, however, once used my finger as a key for a car in a lucid. I would say that it felt really snug, as if my finger had somehow turned into the shape of the key and slid perfectly it. I could feel pressure on my finger as I "turned the key". I know it's a bit off topic but thought you might find it interesting.

I tried that once but I couldn't actually push through, I stopped because it felt uncomfortable. I still consider it a success though because while doing this I was watching my hands closely and my index finger was huge and distorted, and I started laughing.
