      An idea I just had...

(First post that's not in the Newbie Zone, woot)
Anyway, I was just thinking about how there were tests taken with students that were having trouble with math homework or whatever, then after they went to sleep while thinking about it, they suddenly got better.
This got me an idea. If you did nothing but math and math alone all day, would your dream be nothing but math? If you did this whenever you had days off, would you become a genius?
Since I pretty much have nothing to do all day (graduated high school a few months ago, didn't sign up for college and still looking for work ) I decided I want to try this out.
What do you think? Should I? I'm totally willing.

There are a lot of scientists who believe that dreaming exists to help us do problem solving while we sleep. Whenever I've studied really hard about something all day, I tend to see it a lot in my dreams. I think it does help me digest the material better.

Although...using dreams to do math seems kind of sad when there's so much more cool stuff you could do. XD

I do think it's uber cool that you can do so many awesome things while you dream, but I also think it's uber cool if you can use dreams to help you IRL.

Yeah, me too. I have a friend who practiced martial arts moves and kata in her dreams and it helped her. I've also been using dreams to practice kata and singing. I think it's helped a lot.

Yeah, it helped a lot. Also, your creativity is really high during dreamtime so it's very easy to come up with new melodies and lyrics.

A kata is basically a set of karate moves put together, almost like a dance, except...more punching and kicking.

Yeah, I think it could help increase your math skills. I have used lucid dreaming to help me study the day before a big test.

I knew about the creativity boost, but I was talking about your actual ability to sing. So you can make up melodies AND improve your singing ability while you dream? I never thought about improving your voice, but I guess it's a possibility.
Oh, I know what kata is! I just didn't know what it was called. I know now

Totally try this, sometimes it happens on accident if I'm worried about a test or thinking about it before bed, like you said. I doubt it will cause someone to become like Einstein genius though (obv) XD but still, it helps ^_^

I think it would definetely help, but how unbearable would it be sitting down studying, while there's a whole world out there where you can do ANYTHING?!

I'm not saying there's any necessary correlation, but recently I dreamt about my maths exam and then went on to do better than I thought I would. I just remember looking at the questions and flipping the page once or twice.

There's definitely some truth to this. I've always seen sleep time/ dream time, as the brain's way of processing, sorting, and reviewing all the information that is absorbed through the day. If you are studying math all day, then you will end up sorting through it while you are asleep. Consciously, subconsciously, or in a dream. But the brain will work through what it's learned...maybe it could be described as a computer going through a defragmentation process. All the bits and pieces need to be filed away into our memory for easy access in the future, and be able to be recalled easier when thinking about certain subjects. So it files it under math, and then possibly in subcategories related to whatever that math can be applied to.

Anyways, I totally agree. But seriously though, there are so many fun things to do in a dream, and the likelihood of studying, and becoming a genius, now that you are out of school, and having the awesome skills to make a totally long run on sentence that is so hard to read, are pretty much nill if you weren't doing it when you were actually being exposed to the math every day in class.
