Oh, Alarm Clock, How I Loathe You

      Oh, Alarm Clock
Why dost thou choose the most inopportune times to ring?
After what one would perceive as 60 seconds of being lucid (in the midst of a dry spell, no less) you choose to ruin my experience, jumping on a trampoline that was ALSO jumping on a trampoline, by forcing me to re-enter the "physical" world.

      WHY, Alarm Clock, WHY?!

(On a side-note, I'm not sure why the trampoline I saw was already jumping on a trampoline, but it was quite exhilarating for that 45 seconds.)

Anyone have any fun stories about dreams ruined by alarm clocks?

I never use an alarm clock to wake up for LD practice. Personally I think the idea is insane and a touch masochistic. I wake up enough times naturally if I want to practice. An alarm could wake me from a LD anyway. Ah, but then there is the unavoidable morning alarm and the human equivalent of someone waking you or loud noises. I've been woken from a lucid nap many times and it SUCKS. That's the only problem with naps, everyone else is awake and noisy. I can often hang on to the dream for a few seconds, hearing the interuption in my dream, wishing they'd just leave me alone...

I started to wake up naturally.

My alarm clock trained me to wake up on time.

This reminds me, has anyone who is a regular lucid dreamer tried one of those REM pattern alarm clocks?

Well, I'll just say this. The best part of waking up isn't Folgers in your cup, it's smashing the piss out of your alarm, throwing it across your room to make sure the pieces of destruction are away from you, then rolling over in bed, finding a better position and going back to sleep.

And I'll add, that I no longer have an alarm clock, and I have a poster of Ville Valo covering the dent the alarm clock made in my wall. But damn did I sleep good or what, it was lovely.

Oh it wasn't for LD practice. As a full-time student who commutes, I actually have to wake up early, which SUCKS (but its worth the 10 grand I'm saving every year). It was just a really unfortunately timed lucid.

And if I didn't have two alarm clocks, I would never get out of bed. One is across the room on the floor, the other is on my bedside. The first one gets my blood pumping, and the second annoys me until I have to force myself to get out of bed. (I'm a very heavy sleeper).

Not really, I don't have enough lucids to have experienced it yet.

I had a lucid dream THANKS to my alarm once (i-pod alarm). I was in a plane flying through mountains covered in trees, as an alarm on the plain started going off. I recognized it as my actual alarm (which turns off by itself after a few seconds) and it made me lucid. I was then stuck in the dream thinking, "I could enjoy a lucid dream, or wake myself up so I don't miss class. DARN IT!"

I was sorta grouchy that morning in class.

P.S., I get lucids once every 1/4 - 1/2 year or so unless really lucky, so you can imagine the strong urge to keep dreaming.
