      I'm Frustrated!

I have been alive nearly 17 years and not had a single lucid dream

So have I and I've also been attempting (seriously) since last year. In 3 months I'll have been trying for almost a year.
Just don't give up and I'm sure it'll happen for you... As I'm sure I'll get my first sometime soon also.

Even though I've had no Lucids I have, however, been exposed to a new way of living (with ADA) and techniques that relax me and I've been able to sleep much better at nights as before I had great difficulty sleeping.
What I'm saying is: even if you don't have any Lucids you can certainly take something else meaningful away from the experience(s).

How is your dream recall? How do you know you've never had a lucid dream? You could easily have had them with no recollection.

Try keeping a regular dream journal to boost your recall, and once you've been able to remember your dreams every day for at least two weeks, start trying to use lucid dream induction techniques.

The most important thing is that you don't stress about not getting lucid. Sometimes that can be the #1 thing that will hinder your ability - your own expectations of yourself and disappointment in failing. Don't worry about it. Keep talking about lucid dreaming regularly here, and let things happen naturally. I'm sure you will have a lucid dream. You have the ability, and it's only a matter of time before you're doing whatever epic stuff your mind can think of in your dreams

Hey Cacophony, I recall at least 1 each night and 80% of the time I can recall 2 or more... So my dream recall is in good condition.

That's awesome I'd say having good recall is the #1 most important thing for lucid dreaming, and personally I think it's just an amazing enhancement to life

Try tricking your mind into believing that tonight, you will have a lucid dream.
Just be positive and be happy over that thought and believe it every single day. It works because your mind will be conditioned to feeling like you LD on the regular, it helps.

Work on it, dream recall is very important. And even then, you could be missing out on awesome non-lucids! Regular dreams can be fun too, remember

That's so true. One of the coolest things ever is starting to actually remember your dreams in extreme detail, like memories that happened to you in waking life. That in itself is an amazing experience, and as your recall progresses so will your ability to control your dreams, learn about your dreams, etc.

You can learn so much about yourself and your dreams just by writing them down and remembering them. Try to figure out what your dream signs are, things that occur often in your dreams. Those are really great tools for knowing when to do a reality check, because they are specific to you and your dreams. For example, I often find myself by large bodies of waters in dreams, or on paths/dirt roads. So, when I find myself at the ocean, looking at a picture of a lake, taking a hike, or lost down a dirt road, those are the perfect times to do a reality check - because I find those things are often in my dreams.
