      Help with SP/Wild

I was able to achieve my first Lucid dream like last week by using sp my first time. What I ended up doing was just lying there, my body got numb, and started hearing strange noises. I end up waking up (meaning I fell asleep) like 5 minutes later, went back to sleep, and ended up lucid dreaming that night.

Since then, I've tried sp about three more times, and every time I am able to get my body numb and start hearing noises, but I always end up falling asleep and wake up not too long after.

Can anyone give me any helpful hints/tutorials to help me with what I'm doing wrong. When trying SP, I do all that mantra stuff, so I'm not sure what to do, so I don't doze off and fall asleep after I get numb and stuff. Unless that's what's supposed to happen.

No, that is not what you want to have happen. A failed WILD attempt is still a good MILD attempt, so falling asleep might lead you to a LD, but in WILD you must keep at least a little aware. You should notice that your mind will stop doing your mantra and float away at the point of true sleep. Find a way to be aware of how close to true sleep you are. Here is a very basic one I use for that. Count your breaths. When you loose track do not try to remeber where you where, just start over at one. Each time you have to start over make your self be more aware. When you have to start over before you reach ten you know you are at high risk of actually sleeping. Then switch mantra or your technique for awhile. Then try the counting again.

Okay and how do I know when I'm supposed to stop doing this? Do I like suddenly start dreaming?

Here is a link to a thread I started to answer that exact question. I hope it helps. If it does help, please reply to the thread to bump it up, so other people will get a chance to see it.
