A dream guide is a DC, that seems to be smart, aware, and you can have a meaningful conversation with. Some will tell you, he is another entity, that's independent form our mind. For example, he can tell you things, that you have never had a chance to know, ever. Not like you have heard it someplace, just forgot, and now you think he is telling you something you don't know, while he is just telling you stuf from your mind.

Others will tell you, he is our subconscience, our higher self, a representation of our mind. So it's like you are talking to your much smarter self.

Some people notice a DC, that is in most of their dreams, and he may be acting differently form other DC, and he can even be helping you. This could be your DG. If you have not noticed a DC like that, you may try by calling for him 'I would like to meat my guide', or something similar. You can also ask other DCs, if they can tell you where he is. But be ready, they may not know and they'll just be sending you on a wild goose chase.

It's good to have a plan, as to why are you looking for your DG. And be genuinly interested in meeting him, so he can help you with something meaningful. Happy dreams

Many DG's will simply wait until they(you) feel you are ready. Also, many people report to have multiple ones, who may or may not be the same one with many different names.

I was also curious to know the answer to this.
I will try calling out during my next lucid dream.
