      Sleep Paralysis and some questions.

Let me start by saying I've had an account here for a good while but don't really post in the forums, I prefer to read the, but anyway...

People have difficulty getting into sleep paralysis, but not me. For the last year and a half, it has become a 'thing' for me when I sleep. I can go into it when I want to (when I'm in bed of course) and a lot of the time it just comes over me. I don't like SP that much, because it feels crap and I can't move!.

So, every episode of SP, when I open my eyes, I'm in my room, always. As you know, your eyes, feet and fingers are pretty much mobile in a SP situation (I've tried and tested it myself). What I'm seeing when I open my eyes is not my room right? it's just a dream version of it because for some reason it ALWAYS look the same, slightly dull but the outside is sunny and sometimes, there has been a few random additions such as a TV program being on the television, to a few small yellow balls beside me, or just this morning, where I saw another version of myself for a fraction of a second with my arms folded, looking at me which actually freaked me out a bit . So just to clarify, what I see when I open my eyes is fake?

Also, do any of you others get this, when your in the SP state, when you try and move, can you feel a 'second' body of yours move, as if moving through think cement very slowly? I can, I always feel this other body of mine move and I even sometimes get up out of my bed and stand and I can feel these sensations, I can feel the touch of my floor and the cold wood against my feet, but at the same time, I'm still lying in the bed?! GROOVY!.

I used to really freak the hell out with SP, probably because when I was told how to do it, (Lie still, don't move you're body or eyes etc) It worked instantly, as if I had done it a million times before, but as of late, I can lie there and just feel it, I can feel my paralysed body and my 'other' slow-motion body moving around but I son't like the feeling so I usually break out of it after a few seconds, so what I wan't to ask with this is, Does lying still in SP lead to a lucid dream of sorts and do you need to close your eyes for this to happen, also, is there any way of being able to get up out of my 'bed' during this?!

See, thing is, I've never had a scary experience with my SP, although in these instances, I always fear my over-actve imagination and fear that I'll think of some fucked up thing and then it'll manifest before me and I think you'll agree that being stuck to your bed defenceless with a flying spagetti monster looming over you is a bit of a turn-off don't ya' think?

So yeah, INDULGE ME with you're answers oh' dream overlords!

Well, I used to be scared of SP, but I eventually got used to it. It's EXTREMELY handy for lucid dreaming. Sometimes you'll get on a roll and it'll be ultra easy to chain many, many dreams, one after the other. It's great. I've been in SP about 20+ times so far. Although I usually only enter it if I can hear people in my house in real life, because it comforts me knowing that someone else is around.

Anyway, I'm not sure if the whole room is just a dream version or not, but I'd say yes. I usually get the sensation of flying around in my SP, and I'll sometimes see a black and white image of my room, but from a different angle. One time I accidentally opened my eyes once and my room was darker than it was in real life. I also saw an unidentifiable person standing near my door which freaked me out so I woke myself up. I also heard my brother calling me, then getting angry when I didn't answer him, which felt kind of weird because it didn't even feel like I was in SP at all, except for not being able to move. But as long as you don't open your eyes, you shouldn't see anything scary. Just imagine your favorite dream scene. Imagine yourself laying on the floor as you're being transported to your dream world. If that doesn't work, just relax, and after a while, believe that you're in a dream, then jump out of SP and into your dream world! Which will most likely start in your room.

Haven't had the slow-moving thing yet, I don't think. But I've certainly heard about it.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to go and try lucid dreaming again, hopefully being able to stay in my dream for longer than 2 minutes this time. Words cannot explain how annoying it is when you're trying to hook up with a chick and you're constantly reappearing in your bedroom every few minutes while an angry cat, a forest of spiders, and some kids randomly keep appearing that seem hellbent on doing nothing but stopping you from reaching her...
You're traveling to another dimension. A dimension not only of sight and sound, but mind.
A journey into a wondrous land who's boundaries are only that of the imagination. You're entering... A Lucid Dream!

What you see when you open your eyes isn't real.

It's common to feel disconnected from your body in those moments.

I think Triforce wrote a fairly good response.

Will probably get shot down for posting this:
      http://www.amazon.com/Journeys-Out-B.../dp/0385008619

But I found it an interesting read and whilst I don't know where I stand on whether Astral Projection is real or not, I found that an interesting read and a lot of the things you are experiencing are described in there from a perspective that it is real of course.

Love lucid dreaming and love trying to do experiments to see if there is any more to it than just flying around in your subconscious dream world. Obviously so far I've found nothing concrete to suggest it's anything more than a dream
