      100% of brain capacity????

In the movie Limitless there is a pill that can give you 100% of your brain capacity, NZT-48, in the movie when he took the pill he started to perceive everything and be aware of everything. I just wonder what would happen if someone took a NZT-48 in a LD and if that could work as a way to stabilize or to remember forgotten things or if the pill would give you the illusion of 100% brain capacity

I'm not expert, only a 16 year old who's mum pulled him out of school due to mental disorders, so yeah. But I'm pretty sure there would be a reason our brain prevents up from fully utilizing our brain, I think if we did, we might not like the aftereffects, we might end up hospitalized or worse...

Well I think full utilization of the brain would be too dangerous, for now anyway.

Well, I'm using 100% of my brain.... Just saying
Edit: To prove my point... Why don't cut out the piece of your brain which you aren't using. There shouldn't be any difference, since you're not using it, right Pretty sure that only using X% of the brain is just a rumor. How many % seems to change depending on where you read it as well

I know this part for a fact, you are physically using all the space of your brain, but not straining them to 100% usage. It's like how you're faster/stronger in an adreniline rush, your muscles are pushed past what your body would normall sat as their limit.

But we do probably use more than the 10, 20 or 30 percent or whatever that myth is, we use more than that I'm sure.

my mom had a brain surgery 3 months ago, she had a tumor, a big one, so they had to remove 1/4 of her brain tissue on the right side of her brain. That was a big surgery, and my mom is still with us, i guess this is proof that you dont use 100% of your brain.

Good idea, I'll give it a try.

Btw wildride and oros, I think you're missing the point he's talking about folling your brain in a dream to make it more vivid and controlable, not real life.

I'm not sure if we use 100% of our brain all the time, maybe 50%, but isn't true that when we dream we use 100%? Because think about it> It takes alot more imagination and focus to make a dream world then it does to conceive this world through out senses? Or.....is this world OUR dream world?!?!?!?!?!

There is no such thing as brain capacity as it is commonly refered to. Your brain is composed of many modules which each dictate certain functions, therefore only certain parts can ever be activated at one time.

We use do use all regions and areas of the brain, only not all at the same time. Much of awareness does take place on the subconscious level, so the brain is perceiving and processing a large amount of information, but only passing on the relevant bits to our conscious mind. Even if there were a magic pill to allow you to perceive "everything", it would be a matter of bringing whatever is in your subconscious mind to the conscious, not activating unused portions of the brain. Even if this were a possibility, I'm not sure it would be a good idea for daily functioning. If you've ever taken hallucinogens, you know that something like this can happen to your awareness while under the influence. Being completely absorbed in every detail, sound, energy wave is a great experience and possibly conducive to spiritual insight, but its impossible to function when you can't even stand up because your amazed at the level of detail of your experiencing from the floor.

Of course someone can loose a portion of their brain and still function (depending on what region they loose); other areas of the brain will take on the functions of the missing portion. The same way if someone looses an arm, they learn to compensate by using other limbs to take on the same functions as the missing one. Often, though, this results in a personality change or learning or memory disability.

Anyway, allowing access to the subconscious mind in a conscience way, is essentially what lucid dreaming does, no magic pill needed.

To stay on-topic, I believe it could be a very cool way of creating some sort of illusion to increase your senses in dreams I've experienced lucid dreams where everything felt more "real" than anything I've tried in waking life, it's quite an awesome feeling, but I've never tried to use any direct technique to increase my senses. Perhaps taking a pill like that, expecting those results would do it. I will definitely have to try this when my lucid dreams start to happen more frequently
