I think simple exercising would only invigorate you, and make your body more active. This means you might end up being more awake. You'd have to do some strenuous activities for your body to get to the point of being too tired, and just retire once you lay down to sleep (which I think is what you're asking?). |

It sounds to me like you're too excited to fall back asleep again. The goal is to fall asleep so you'll have to relax. Try shortening the WBTB's down to just a few minutes or even just waking up and going right back to sleep. Some people can't fall asleep again during a WBTB if they've been up for even a short amount of time. You can also try experimenting with the time you're waking up. I used to wake up 4½ hours into sleep, but I noticed that I barely dreamt anything up until 6-7 hours of sleep. So I put my alarm 6 hours into sleep instead and it was way more effective. |

I recently tried (15 min) exercise duing a couple of my WBTB attempts where I found that it helped me. |
