I need someone to help explain to me how to best improve 1) My dream control, and 2) Help me find out how to remember to stabilize my dream.

Last night I had a random DILD and immediately attempted to fly. It didn't work. I knew I was in a dream and had complete control but it just didn't happen. I first attempted to make myself levitate into the air. Nothing. So next I tried to just run and take-off like a plane. Again nothing. This repeated frustration I believe made me loose control of the dream and actually turned it into a false awakening instead of a successful LD.

How can I improve my dream control and remember to stabilize my dreams. The issue for me with remembering to stabilize is that in dreams my memory of waking life gets very foggy, and I have trouble remembering my goals for the dreams.
